It’s opening night! We look forward to welcoming you all this evening for ShadesOf Atonement. Bringing together emerging artists across film, painting, photography, poetry and live performance, the exhibition explores atonement as an ongoing act of acknowledgement, responsibility and repair. Through works addressing colonialism, war, genocide and displacement, the exhibition considers how historical injustices continue to shape our present, connecting personal reflection with wider social and political realities. My film camera had the pleasure of capturing some fabulous faces over the course of our 6 day exhibition - ShadesOf Atonement. We had over 700 people walk through the doors over just 6 days during our ShadesOf Atonement exhibit @shadesofshows. Only getting round to making a wrap-up post now, but I am truly blessed to have seen this exhibit flourish and come to life after 9 months in the making, with the team putting in a graft to get this over the line. This is our third year running the ShadesOf series, and the turnout is always incredible. From ShadesOf Resistance, ShadesOf Migration, to this year’s ShadesOf Atonement, we’ve seen over 2000 people engage with our exhibit series and worked with over 100+ incredibly talented and gifted artists. ShadesOf is more than just an exhibit series; it’s a series of temporal reflections. Being able to creative-direct and curate this series alongside my super-talented co-curators @ma_rtina_amo , @ameliamdavies , and @_emille__ is always a blessing, not to forget our wicked assistant curators @esmemcgowan and @ni.thiya__ . From panel talks to live performances, we had some beautiful programming over the 6 days of our exhibit. While I am sad to say the show is closed, I’m extremely excited for myself and the team’s next steps. If you are, or work for, a brand or institution, don’t be a stranger let’s work. We have some exciting things planned for the future, and the community we’ve been building always looks for collaborators and allies. I want to give a special shoutout to @thebombfactoryartfoundation , who have supported us immensely over the last three years, letting us take over their beautiful Marylebone gallery and supporting my own artistry to develop through these years. Finally, can’t forget the legends who helped us execute the space we were all able to engage, converse, and connect in: @marcusfreeth

AFTER THE END: THE EMOTIONAL AND PRACTICAL REALITIES OF COMPLETING A FILM @ukfullyfocused x @shadesofshows collaboration was everything we could have hoped for and more chaired by Haja Marie Kanu and featuring @alfiejjneill & @storybybokoko we got to investigate these twos careers further within film alongside delving into Alfie’s featured short film Final Fall.
