🖤🥀 Lover of Black books - with an emphasis on vintage and historical romance titles and just showing my bookish exploits and finds 🥀🖤

POSTS STORIES REELS

Lesson in Love by Tracy West —- I’ve never seen a first love story with a Black couple from this era so I’m thankful I acquired this ❤️

I purchased my copy of The Poisons We Drink by @bethany_baptiste in 2024 from @sistahscifi and it’s a treasured book in my collection. Venus has lived rent free in my head since then —- her story of fierce determination, magical resilience and unapologetic nature just resonated so deeply with me. I’m so grateful that the bookclub I participate in chose this as our book pic back then. This novel is nothing but a labor of love and I’m so thankful that Bethany never gave up on Venus and made sure her story was told. It was needed 🙏🏿 #blackbooksmatter #blackwitchbooks #thepoisonswedrinkvenus #yamagicalbooks #blackyabooks by @shadowacrossthepage

The Street by Ann Petry~ one of my top favorite books in 2025 and it was recommended in @libby.app. I heard the sample audio and was completely captivated. Turns out this was her first book & it was published during the Harlem Renaissance. It show cased the grittier side of life in the 1930s and just the impossible choices Black women faced. #thestreetannpetry #annpetry #harlemrenaissancebooks by @shadowacrossthepage

Get you a book stand it just makes me smile looking at my desk and seeing All She Ever Wanted by @marissamcqueen_author . This is the love story between play boy Vernon Jackson & Eulalia Hopewell a preachers daughter based in the 1920s. #marissamcqueen #blackromancebook #blackhistoricalromancebooks #blackhistoricalromancenovel by @shadowacrossthepage

Rebel by #beverlyjenkins is the book that kicked off my journey through Aunt Bev’s backlist. I bumped into her at The Jefferson Market NYPL in February of 2023. I couldn’t put this book down and ate up every detail. It’s set in post- Civil War New Orleans and is the steamy and dreamy love story between Valinda a Northern born school teacher and Drake a former Union soldier. #beverlyjenkinsbooks #beverlyjenkins #blackhistoricalromancebooks #rebelbybeverlyjenkins by @shadowacrossthepage

My spontaneous trip to @nypl this week and these are the 📚 I checked out. Rafe by @rebekahweatherspoon has been on my TBR for ages so this was sign 😂. The @67stnypl is beautiful and the front desk staff was lovely. I feel like they must redecorate the desk because it looked different than last time I was there but in the best way possible. #librarylove #libraryhaul #bipocromancebooks #librarycard #supportyourlocallibrary📚 by @shadowacrossthepage
