What is Sunscore? ☀️🏡

Yesterday, @redfinrealestate went live with Shadowmap’s Sunscore. The metric that distills sun exposure of buildings into a single number – from 0 to 100. Easy to understand. Directly verifiable through our renowned realtime 3D visualization, just one click away.

But the score enables you to → sort. To → filter. To → find those bright homes in an area without looking at each of them individually. It’s the first time that Shadowmap is offering a metric directly via API. Of course we’re also empowering AI to work with this new parameter.

Thinking into the near future, I see Sunscore as a new standard for real estate platforms. Just like digital floor plans were an innovation 25 years ago, Sunscore – while being an innovation right now – will be a standard sooner than later.

Home buyers will expect it. And architects & developers will build homes that reach a higher Sunscore. Because home seekers demand it. To live a healthier, happier life in brighter homes, in alignment with the Sun.

For the benefit of all ☀️

We’d rather tap dance in a minefield than climb in the sun 😅 #ad Shadowmap approached us at the perfect time to give their new app a go ☀️ Climbing in Morocco, just above the Sahara desert, it might be winter but we still don’t climb in the sun, too painful. It’s like a vaseline factory 🫠

We usually ‘attempt’ to take guidance from a mish mash of vague symbols & info in climbing guidebooks for an accurate idea of when the walls we want to climb go into the shade but its pretty hit and miss when you don’t know the area - in some guides around the world “sun in the AM” seems to be subjective when its 15:30 and STILL in full sun 🤔

The sun is never quite where we think it’s gonna be but this wee app has removed all the ambiguity. We can take care of homeschool, work, life chores etc and get to the wall when its in the shade, no time lost, no climbing while getting baked AND it’s got the weather forecast, temps and 3D imaging built in. It’s cool eh?

It’s also come in super handy for nailing down the best parking spots to charge our solar but that’s a story for another day 😉

At the very core of what we do at Shadowmap stands the mission of reconnecting humanity with the Sun ☀️🌏

We humans are children of light – quite literally. Without sunlight our health diminishes drastically and our modern lives sadly distance us from this live-giving energy.

With our app we aim to make it as easy as possible for humans to interact with the Sun for their well-being – getting vitamin D, finding a sunny home or building and planning with the Sun in the first place.

Go to app.shadowmap.org and get started.
