SLOTH v2 modifications have begun. The Giant S.low L.ocomotion & O.ppositional T.actical H.abitat is a human-powered mobile sensing platform composed of a bicycle and tow-behind equipment trailer (and occasional dog navigator named “Sonic Boom”).
Giant SLOTH carries radio-frequency receivers,
binocular optics, night-vision systems, 3D
scanners, recording devices, and the camping
equipment required to remain in place for
extended periods. It is built for slow movements,
repeated returns, and sustained presence at the
edge of restricted sites.
Giant SLOTH operates as a sensory instrument
array within the Shadow Mountain framework,
supporting work across landscapes, aeroscapes,
and exoscapes. Giant SLOTH works within the ideas of fragment, noise, and drift rather than assembling and normalizing completionist datasets.
In this ecosystem, Giant SLOTH functions as an ecstatic polygraph, an instrument for recording what cannot be

Just added this to the Resources & Inspirations section of the Shadow Mountain website (Link in bio) In 1986, photographer Richard Misrach gained access to the U.S Navy’s “Bravo 20” restricted bombing range site by staking a mining claim under the 1872 Mining Law. For 18 months, he documented the scarred landscape in a series of color photographs. This book presents some of those photographs, the writings of Myriam Weisang Misrach and Richard Misrach, and their proposal to transform Bravo 20 into the Bravo 20 National Park, which would have been the first U.S. environmental memorial. by @shadowmountainresearch

New ⚡️spark plugs ⚡️in the Shadow Mountain Experimental Vehicle. Earth Dreams is definitely one of the wildest marketing names for an engine series any car manufacturer has ever dreamed up. I think of The Orb’s Little Fluffy Clouds every time I see that sticker. by @shadowmountainresearch
