🌊 THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SEA 🌊

We are incredibly excited to announce that our debut EP release is on the horizon.

“The Other Side of the Sea” is a love letter to the anime songs that crossed the Pacific, consisting of eight English adaptations & OSTs that introduced entire generations to their favorite series. These are the songs that aired on Western television, soundtracked Saturday mornings, and helped anime find its footing on this side of the ocean.

Spanning decades of iconic series, this EP brings these songs together for a journey back to our youth to remind us where our stories began. Available everywhere on May 15th, the tracklist includes:

When this band first started, we asked Luke if he wanted to join us to sing a song with us as a guest—one night only.

He said yes, but only on one condition. That condition was that he sings Escape From the City from Sonic Adventure 2.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya gave us one of the most iconic in-story performances of any anime adaptation ever. This song practically cultivated its own niche in the late 2000’s amassing over 100 million views on YouTube, becoming it’s own cultural sensation.

This Friday we’re bringing “God Knows...” back to the mainstream with own English adaptation.

“I would follow you no matter where you run to” 🎀

17 years ago today, on October 9th, the final episode of “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” aired, immediately following Haruhi’s canonical birthday.

For those who remember, this series was making waves throughout anime culture like few others before it.

For many people, “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya” serves as a bit of a deep cut. But for those Y2K anime fans who remember, it was something special.

And then there was the insert song: “God knows…”

An entire song written for, performed, and animated as part of an episode of an anime. To this day, it remains one of the most memorable musical moments in anime history.

When we started Shadow Realm, we knew there wasn’t a world where the anime’s famous insert song, “God knows…,” didn’t become part of our catalog.

It’s one of those songs that means so much to so many people, and we knew we wanted to do it justice.

Our version isn’t exactly what you know, however. You see, one of the rules we set early on for Shadow Realm was this:

1. If a song had a native English translation; meaning the original creators or songwriters had written and performed their own version; that was the version we would perform.

“Closer,” “Chozetsu Dynamic!” and “Zenzenzense” from our debut EP; “The Other Side of the Sea” are all perfect examples of this.

2. If a song didn’t have an official English translation, Zack would write our own.

Our cover of “Again” from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a great example.

But “God knows…” was a little more complicated.

“God knows…” uniquely fell somewhere in the middle.

Rather than its original songwriter, Aki Hata, composing an English version, the lyrics for the official English dub were written and produced by the localization team so they would rhyme and match the mouth movements of the already animated performance.

It’s a pretty unique situation, and one that left us with a decision to make.

With respect to their team, we’ve always felt there was a gap between the version of the song Aki Hata wrote and the lyrics adapted for the official English dub.

Because of that, we chose to take our own spin on a song we adore so muc by @shadowrealmmusic

Today we received the news that our debut EP “The Other Side of the Sea” has properly been restored to all digital storefronts with our original streams and metadata fully intact!

Please allow us some time as we resync lyrics, update Spotify canvases, and many more little details were originally done after the initial release.

In the meantime, enjoy having our collection of Western adaptations back everywhere you listen to music.

We had a great time pulling out the acoustic guitars and stripping down some of our favorite songs this weekend at @pandafestpittsburgh! Thank you to their team for having us, and to everyone who watched us perform!

In a few weeks, we’re heading back to The Schoolhouse Recording Studio with @danielblakeproduction to record some of these unique acoustic versions we’ve all come to love so much.

After that we return to Virginia Nov. 6th-8th to takeover @nekocon_official! Lots of music to come in the coming months, we can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been working on.

The information they provided us is that YouTube requested a removal for UGC / YouTube Ref Overlap. Essentially this means that they detected this audio was previously uploaded somewhere.

No other context was given, and support had no other information to give.

We are actively working to restore the release on all platforms under its original ISRC.

Please reward us with your patience and positivity while we work to make sure this is restored and doesn’t happen again in the future as we prepare for future releases coming soon. by @shadowrealmmusic

my heart is set and I won’t back down 🫶✨

if you’ve been around for the entirety of my @shadowrealmmusic journey, then you probably know what this post is about. I’ve told this story time and time again to friends, vendors, venue staff, and anyone at panels who will listen but it’s essentially my hero origin story and favorite thing to speak on. 🤭

my start in the music scene was simple: following my older siblings around at local shows until eventually I made my own friends, started bringing my camera for candids or occasional band shots, and really began forming the confidence to become the person you all know today. I finally found a community that felt like home.

in 2014 my band @younglungsband formed and I moved to Pittsburgh to follow my dreams of getting a better day job and pursuing music as more than a closeted hobby.

we went from crowded basement shows to small tours to playing the last official Pittsburgh @vanswarpedtour to an abrupt halt when covid hit at the beginning of 2020. I felt like I regressed as a musician and went back to hosting open mic nights and performing at backyard parties. I figured this was better suited for me anyways.

flash forward to 2023 when @tuccarello approached me to sing “Hero Too” at the 2nd @animenightofficial, which would feature The Anime Band — rotating singers and no “real” members. we sold out The Hard Rock Cafe (RIP) and that night everything changed. Evan asked me to join full time and without hesitation, I agreed and never looked back. suddenly I was given an outlet to perform again in a bigger and better way than ever before. I was hooked.

I could never have predicted how far we would go as a group or myself personally as a performer. I have met the most amazing people in the community we’ve formed and seeing so many of you in the crowd brought me to tears back stage. I am incredibly fortunate for all of you and for being given what I’d consider a second chance at music.

playing and being a part of @teamtekko 2026 felt like a pipe dream and I don’t think I’ll ever fully grasp what we’ve accomplished in just three years.

“you too can become a hero.”

Although I have a thousand words to say, I will do my best to keep it short and sweet.

Three years ago when this project started, I often made the joke that @teamtekko was the final frontier.

At the time, we could only dream of one day being successful enough to perform at conventions, nonetheless one with as large of a cultural and historical footprint as Tekko.

When I walked into that ballroom and I saw the footprint of that stage and the scale of the production, I knew this was going to be the biggest thing any of us had ever done. To think this convention not only chose us to headline, but we got the opportunity to have a legend like @calebhyles join us for a song is still so much to wrap my brain around.

Above all, however, to have been surrounded by my friends, and have this entire group, both new and old, all under one roof, for one night only is more than I can have ever asked for. Watching them up there makes me happier beyond words and I am grateful everyday that these individuals have chosen to share their talents with me, and subsequently with all of you.

Finishing this chapter feels both like the end of this story, as well as that of a new beginning.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. To everyone who has ever contributed meaningfully. To anyone who has ever given this a chance. I am forever humbled by sharing in this experience in such a profound way.
