@jaimearoxa

my teacher ✨
i met jaime on my travels through a series of weird and serendipitous events. the first time i met him, was at a dance conference in march 2025. the very first class i took, i knew that instant i was going to be a lifelong student of this brilliant human, thinker, philosopher, master of masters and dancer. i had to leave brazil and complete the next chapters of my story before i would book a flight on a random tuesday in bangalore, and show up at the dance studio in florianopolis, june 2026. asking this man to help me because i was lost. south america has given so much but more than anything, it introduced me to my teacher.

i am resharing this here with english subtitles so everyone can benefit from the wisdom my teacher has to offer. i am so grateful for the technology because it allows me to communicate with someone whose language i don’t speak. someday i shall learn portuguese and have fluent one on one conversations on why we need to preserve what makes us human. but today, you listen to the master of masters, @jaimearoxa by @shaesjournal_

sinthan top : khuda sabi’s kaeni paeth
( at the staircase of god’s doors )

the phrase my mom used before dad decided to trek even higher ignoring her demands to not go and like the daddy’s chica that i am, i kissed mumma and followed dad. as my memories come back to me, my childhood has been spent mostly going on these mini adventures with dad, from the top of mountains to all sorts of weird construction and hardware markets of india. similar to how mom would travel with her dad, selling shawls all over india.

i don’t speak kashmiri properly if at all. i don’t know much phrases or vocabulary except for bits and pieces of my broken kashmiri here and there. by @shaesjournal_

the day i got my first headstand.

june 2019,
i attended a yoga class at work and for the month that would follow, i spent every moment i could get to myself kicking up the wall. leading up to this time capsule from the past.

i could have never imagined the trajectory my life would take post that yoga class. i am grateful. by @shaesjournal_

ah i have so much love to offer to this world, where do i even begin. it’s all just too much for this always overwhelmed, socially awkward, somewhat ambivert, leaning towards isolation but craving dancing with her people and going ABSOLUTELY CRAZY on the streets of this world. i am a chica of this world and i love this silly world of mine. by @shaesjournal_
