Pre-Registered Vinyasa Yoga Classes

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Almost every person who signed up for my pre-registered vinyasa series, said something like this:

"I'm really nervous about this, but I think it will be good for me."

That's exactly how almost everyone in the room felt. They were nervous, but knew it was time to progress, to push themselves. That's why I created this series, I saw students show up week after week, and knew they could take this journey even further. They could get out of their comfort zone. I love vinyasa yoga for that, it pushes you out of your comfort zone, even when you don't "feel ready".

And guess what? They did fantastic! It was a push, it was fast paced, and they had a chance to try a new pose. Although, I'm never looking for someone to "be good" at yoga, because it doesn't exist, it was exciting to see everyone try. To at least give it a shot.

What some of you might not know, is I have been secretly preparing students for this shift. A few months ago we did a 4 week series on vinyasa's, and for the past month we focused on hips and hamstrings to prepare. I also explored more movement in some of my classes. While I thought no one would notice, someone came up to me and said I'm sneaky, and made this transition less difficult.

Maybe you know it's time to get out of your comfort zone, but you're nervous or scared. If you're taking classes each week, and you have a feeling you could try something new, I urge you to try vinyasa with me every Thursday 6:30-7:30pm at Thrive Collective, Abbotsford. What happens when you try something new? Maybe you build community, build strength, find new ways to move, and actually progress in your yoga journey.

The first day of pre-registered vinyasa yoga series started yesterday. It was so exciting to see everyone in this space for yoga. Students loved how quiet it was, the community and a faster paced class! It was really cool to see everyone chatting before class. Thrive Collective offers a stunning space with soo many plants.

Feeling a bit like you missed out? Don't worry, drop-in's are welcome. Link in bio to register as space is limited. taken in Clearbrook, Abbotsford by @shainayoga

We are three weeks into our pre-registered vinyasa yoga series at Thrive Collective in Abbotsford. I have been really loving this community we are building. While I offer drop-in spots for students, pre-registration holds you accountable. You always feel better after you practice.

Something I didn't expect, was to already see improvement within students. Many of these students practice with me weekly, and some multiple times a week. I find it so cool to watch students move through a dynamic flow , that challenges and strengthens. I see s difference in forward folds, in vinyasas and even in savasana.

Not only do I love teaching in this space, I love the feeling of being in the space. Where everything flows, no one cares about what anyone else is doing. It is honestly addictive. I feel so entirely grateful that people show up week after week, and honoured that they are willing to practice with me.

November pre-registered vinyasa yoga series opens soon. Expect it to fill quickly! Sign-up for my monthly email newsletter to receive all the information, or check my website. Link in bio for all the details. taken in Abbotsford, British Columbia by @shainayoga

possibly my favourite time of year✨

This was from our annual thanksgiving trip to Princeton! Every year, my family spends time at our cabin and take some time away. I love how there is no service or wifi, and you truly have to take time away. taken in Princeton, British Columbia by @shainayoga

Have you been putting yourself last, maybe thinking movement is at the bottom of your list? What if... you could make it a priority. Commit to one hour each week. It's not something you do when you feel like it, it just becomes part of your routine.

That's why I have pre-registered vinyasa yoga series here in Abbotsford. One hour each Thursday 6:30-7:30pm at Thrive Collective, their new location!

I love pre-registered yoga series because they hold you accountable. Its easy to go I dont feel like it, I will skip it. But, when you pay for 5 weeks, you feel like you should show up. It builds community, the same group of people each week. And it helps you to make it a priority.

Want to sign-up for the month of October? Check my link in bio for all of the details. You can always email or dm me with any questions! taken in Abbotsford British Columbia by @shainayoga

What I wish more people knew about their yoga practice.

Did anything resonate for you?

Yoga doesn't have to be a physical practice. It can be taking a few breaths in your car during heavy traffic. Maybe you move with less urgency throughout your day. Or maybe a nightly ritual before bedtime that you set for yourself.

You never have to do what I'm offering, you can always ignore me. Maybe you take a nap because that's what you need that day.

Building heat, moving our bodies and getting out of your mind, is all in preparation for stillness. Movement isn't the whole point, but it definitely helps.

Blocks simply bring the ground closer to you. Yoga belts can be used as an extension of your arms or to add to the sensation. Sometimes props can give you more space to breathe. They can support you. They can really enhance your practice.

Sometimes you've had a long day, or maybe there's a lot on your mind that day. Some yoga classes feel just okay, not bad or good, just okay. And sometimes classes feel amazing and life changing! Both are great. Balance is needed.

Your baseline is ever-changing. Some days you feel restless and like you need to move. And some days you feel like you just want to rest. Observe, and meet yourself where you are at.

Your breath is the rhythm of your practice. It is the ease between effort and ease. It is the foundation. Without the breath, what is the practice? It is something you can change at any moment or any time. Let your breath facilitate the practice. taken in Chilliwack, British Columbia by @shainayoga

In order to set students up for success within peak poses, it's important to not only prepare but to explore those same movements throughout the class. I plan my sequences with intention. I ask, what does the body need in this pose? Can we explore it supine or seated first?

In this class we worked towards standing hand to big toe pose also known as Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana. We started on our backs, and took a variation with a strap. This was to prepare our hamstrings and hips. Then, we took Toe Stand also known as Padangusthasana. This was to bring their awareness into their feet. We already familiarize ourselves with these movements, so it feels natural when we move into the shape. Throughout class we took more poses to open the hamstrings and hips and practice balance.

While I wish I could show you an entire hour of how I prepared students, I cannot on Instagram. Want to join a class or practice with me 1:1? Check my website in my bio. taken in Chilliwack, British Columbia by @shainayoga
