I realized the other day that I’ve been mainly posting the highlights of my life - the trips, weddings, exciting happenings. This realization inspired this post — the little joys of life in Oklahoma! The mundane, simple, sweet moments that make up our days here.

Been on quite the health journey for a few years now. There have been seasons where I felt in control of my health, and many more where I felt anything but. In the midst of feeling unable to feel and look the way I wanted, God has done and is continuing to rewire my definition of health and wellness. For me, it has been a journey of finding gratitude for the body God has given me - quirks and all. For realizing that movement is a gift and a privilege - one that not everyone has. For finally feeling the freedom to wake up and do what feels best - whether that’s stretching, walking, an intense workout, a rest day - and realizing my identity isn’t in what I do or don’t do but that getting to move is a gift to receive.

A few months back, maia and I had the honor of interviewing so many incredible women in the health and wellness space. One of those conversations was with a fellow Pepperdine alum (🥹🤍) @bblairb who shared her journey with movement and body image. It was powerful and inspiring - a conversation I would recommend to any girl struggling with something similar or just looking to hear more on the topic 🤍 posting link to episode on stories ** :) by @shakeandblake_ly

Hiiii happy Sunday. I’ve typed these words over and over trying to articulate the right ones. Ones that make sense, that aren’t over sharing necessarily but that are also getting the point across. I took a step back from my personal social media accounts the past month plus. And before some of you roll your eyes for me *feeling the need to share that* … let me explain.

I took a step back because I finally looked in the mirror and realized the effect these apps were having on my life. On my mental state. On my thoughts. On my spirit. On my emotions - quite literally all of it. I’ve always been pro social media … I mean it is my job to run other people’s accounts. I’ve always seen the good that can and always will come from it. But in doing that I missed the effect it was having on me. I continued to tell myself I would get better with boundaries and limiting my time but just continued to find myself struggling to do so.

Long story short I decided to hop off for a second. And goodness gracious. I could’ve never expected the change that would come for me. My mind felt clearer, lighter, more optimistic. Comparison began to lower. And before I knew, I could actually be present where my feet were. Not needing to constantly pick up my phone to check in with where everyone else was.

I decided to share this not to say kudos to me. But rather to provide hope for someone feeling the same. Feeling the need to constantly make themself known on here, feel connected, etc. I will always see and believe in the good that can come from social media but I am now more than ever a proponent in stepping back when needed. Boundaries and time limits are important but there are moments in life when I really believe that what God is asking of us is to be as present as physically possible where He has us. Because it’s then that we begin to finally see glimpses into what He is doing and has been doing. 🤍
