Today is quite the day. My dad's birthday is today. His name was Michael, and who my son is named after. I lost him when I was 30, to cancer. I miss him everday.
This morning is also the morning I didn't come home from my morning ride. The day my daughter and two sons almost lost their dad. I can't imagine leaving them with such a hole in their young lives.
So today will forever be a big day for me. I may post like this every year.
This morning, my Daughter is living her best life in SanMarcos in Texas State University, and my sons snuck into my room (way too early) to scare/wake me up. Thier favorite way to start their day...and mine.
I thank God for this second chance at life every day. As well as all my friends and family whose support two years ago is how today is such a good day for me now.
May you all get out and LIVE today to the fullest, whether on or off a bike. Tomorrow is not promised. by @shamacycles

Yesterday was a heavy one....yet a good one.
Ive been wanting go back to the TMC ICU to thank the staff that helped me live again. I was there for 34 days (5 unconscious). Drugged up, crazy dreams when I could sleep, in pain, hot, always thirsty, unable to sit up, couldnt breathe on my own, having to rely on everyone to do nearly anything. Had pneumonia twice and couldnt even tell it was bad cause of everything else going on. Sure its their "job", but I certainly couldn't do what these people do. I feel indebted to them in a way.
I was feeling emotional driving there. Meeting a rep at the garage (to get me up) I was feeling it. As soon as I got on the hallway of my old room, my eyes got glassy. Some of the staff came out and my voice was cracking as I tried to greet them and not lose it. This is why it took me almost two years to go back.
As many in ICU there dont leave there to lead a normal quality of life, I wanted them to see that sometimes what they do lets some one live their best life after. Or the life we often take for granted is changed after we leave there.
Several there said, they've never had some one come back. Which hit me. It was all of my friends and customers who came to see me, sent me notes, messages, calls, that helped me get out of there and back on my feet (literally), working, riding, and living again. Not sure if my one visit and a cake would have that impact on them, but I wanted them to know how much it all meant to me. Also how much it's meant to my three children, Dacree, Michael and Raymond as they have a dad still that can still be a dad with/for them.
Overwhelmed with emotions from that visit....all I can think of is how Grateful I am for this life.
Thank you all, life is precious.

Yesterday I did a thing. First ride in the mountains was here 16ish years ago. Been coming to various parts of Colorado as much as I can...I'm not a "climber" but I love the suffering here. Ive never done "The Triple" here in Aspen. So at 50 and limited lungs post accident, why not. Maroon Bells, then Ashcroft, then a reload of bottles and a snack in town. Finally Independence Pass. I ran out of water with 4 miles to go. I stopped at the trailhead with just about a mile from the top. I was about to turn back. That mile takes a while, and I felt pretty bad. Thankfully some people there had a huge container of water they let me fill both bottles and had some lmnt. I was out of everything. So despite wanting to turn around nearly the whole way up...I made it. Upon starting the long (not easy or smooth) descent into town...I was suddenly getting glassy eyed. Flooded with the emotions of how long I pushed myself that day, the longest ride post accident, all that I've had to overcome these past nearly two years...I was about to lose it at 40mph. I had to refocus and save that for later. Which I did.
To my kids, my family, my friends, my teammates, my customers...thank you for still being here with me in this thing called life. I carried each of you up and down all 90 miles yesterday.

It’s rare for a product to improve this much over a previous generation, but that is exactly what @slfmotion achieved with the new Paradigm collection. A full carbon build and improved design pair aesthetics and performance like no other system on the market. Excited to put this one through the paces, marginal gains have never looked so good 🤘 taken in Shama Cycles by @shamacycles

I remember years ago swearing I’d never get into crit racing, but here we are, a featherweight gravel racer pushing his @3tbike in circles for an hour every Wednesday at the @memorialparkcritseries. It’s just nearly impossible to pass up the solid competition and the even more solid sense of community this series brings our local scene. I’m proud to represent @shamacycles again this year at the pointy end and highlight just how capable modern aero gravel bikes like the Racemax² can be. A few weeks left of racing before we throw on some bigger tires on that same rig for the usual offroad programming 🫡

Congratulations to everyone who raced in the 2026 Memorial Park Criterium Series in Houston, Texas!

The Texas heat was relentless, but the racers delivered incredible performances, the fans brought nonstop energy, and the volunteers and support staff kept everything running smoothly.

What a fantastic showcase of grit, speed, and determination. The racers were on fire, the fans were on fire, and the support crews were on fire too! 🔥🚴☀️

Congratulations to all who competed, volunteered, and cheered from the sidelines. See you at the next race!
