BP Tips with @shane_olive . It’s always good to stay in the middle of the field when you’re taking swings. Coach Shane gives this hitter the cue “it’s ok to get beat” but what does that actually mean?

It means that if you’re struggling with timing or getting caught by pitches inside that we can still stay within our sequencing. Keeping in mind the fact that we’re often a good enough hitter to make solid contact and drive a ball back up the middle/backside even if a pitch gets on us earlier than we anticipated. Getting jumpy, or trying to do too much with a pitch that beats you is a recipe for soft contact, so staying disciplined and being ok with getting beat can help you drive more balls middle and hit the ball harder even with your B swing.
