I am incredibly saddened by the news we received yesterday. To lose the future of not only the sport I love, but a team I have become so incredibly close to crushes me. This team has faced so much adversity in my short stay here and have all bonded over the collective willingness to fight past the terrible cards we were continually dealt. I’m absolutely gutted for each and every one of these teams, and especially their younger members, who were promised a future here only to receive a half-hearted apology in a dark auditorium. The people who made this decision don’t understand how much joy they ripped away from these athletes. To feign the promise of allowing them to compete at the highest level and then turn around and cut 10 programs after only a year is sickening. But what do I know? I’m just a lowly college athlete. I do know I’m thankful for the opportunity to play out my senior season. I also know I’m beyond proud of how my teammates and coaches are choosing to handle this situation. Most of all, I know I’m thankful as hell to have been apart of this wild ride with my brothers, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. #rollcats #lastdance by @shaneegen
