Washington DC Mardi Gras 2026: The Moment of a Lifetime

Saturday night at the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians Ball, a childhood dream became my reality. Stepping onto that floor to be formally presented in front of thousands was an honor beyond words—a moment where time seemed to stand still as the lights caught the traditions of our beloved state.

Representing my hometown and the shrimping industry is deeply personal for me; it is the heartbeat of my community and the legacy of my family. Shrimping isn’t just an industry back home; it is a way of life that has shaped who I am. To carry that heritage with me into the nation’s capital was the greatest privilege I could imagine.

As I heard my name announced as the 73rd Delcambre Shrimp Festival Queen, I felt the weight and the beauty of all the queens who came before me. I grew up watching them with wide eyes, admiring their grace and the way they championed our culture. To now join their ranks and continue this sacred tradition is an emotional milestone I will hold close to my heart forever.

The emotions became truly surreal as I graced past my family and my “shrimp family” of former queens. Seeing them pop confetti in celebration as I walked by was a moment of pure joy that I’ll never forget. I am so incredibly grateful for their unwavering support; having my loved ones and my sister queens there to cheer me on made the transition into this legacy feel complete. Knowing that I am now a part of that timeline, preserving the history for the little girls who are watching today just as I once did, is a responsibility I carry with immense pride.

I am incredibly grateful for every person who helped me reach this stage—my family, my festival board, and my community. To represent our hardworking shrimpers on such a grand, prestigious stage was the experience of a lifetime—one that I will cherish for the rest of my days. I owe everything to God, who continued my passion for this festival!

As the 73rd Delcambre Shrimp Festival Queen, one of the greatest honors of my reign was traveling to the Louisiana State Capitol and standing proudly as an ambassador of my hometown, the shrimping industry, and the festival that has shaped so much of who I am.

To be recognized by the Louisiana House of Representatives for advocating for Louisiana seafood and our hardworking shrimping families is something I will cherish forever. As I stood in our State Capitol, I wasn’t standing there alone—I carried the stories of the generations before me, the people who built this industry, and the community that has supported me every step of the way.

Thank you to Representative Jacob Landry and the Louisiana House of Representatives for this incredible recognition. Most importantly, thank you to Delcambre and the shrimping community for trusting me to tell your story.

With a grateful heart, I will continue to proudly advocate for Louisiana seafood, our shrimpers, and the heritage that makes us who we are.
