Emily was an exquisitely special person.
It is tough to find the words for how much love and admiration I have for her sheer intrepidity through a rare, aggressive LFS force stacking against her over the past decade.
Personally and professionally in my onc/pall care practice, it was always so clear to me that she was beyond a ‘professional cancer patient’ — she was a professional all-star human.

Not only was her spirit unbroken since her diagnosis — her beauty, wit and humor, and unwavering positivity intensified with each setback and touched and consumed everyone lucky enough to know her, unsurprisingly reaching billboards, ribbon cutting ceremonies, and even a @pittsburghpirates first pitch.

She instantly befriended, supported, loved, and uplifted anyone & everyone she met — from besties to breasties, friends to friends of friends, & her fellow LFS warriors, and of course her immense adoration for her family.

I will especially cherish every show we saw together — emo-ing for life — even when she was feeling crappy the world would never know it, and instead would be playing air guitar & clenching a fist with a stank face to Coheed. My excitement to have any night out with Emily & Bobby overshadowed each band (even if her love for @claudiopsanchez and his hair was stronger). Josie’s first Stage AE experience with @the_commonheart a particularly special highlight and so grateful to share with them.

I am forever thankful my dear friend Bobby introduced Emily into my life, her legacy will be everlasting.

@bobby_lavalley, you are my superhero.
Clark Kent on Halloween ‘23 and everyday.
Emily’s resilience was a testament to the support system and the devoted partner beside her. You are the world’s greatest Dad, coach, and role model to Josie. You have gracefully been through in a span of months what no one should have to endure in a lifetime.
I love you and am so thankful for our 23-year cool-faced friendship and here for you always and to share in Em’s memory, (tom delonge voice) forever and after.
