Part of PICA's next season, 'Cafe coming soon' is a major mid-career survey exhibition of Western Australian artist Shannon Lyons. Presented in PICA’s West End Gallery, the exhibition will function as a radical visual compendium of Lyons’ career to date, featuring a series of large-scale sculptural installations that reflect on 20 years of Lyons’ site-responsive practice. ⁠

I’m excited to announce my solo exhibition Cafe coming soon opens on Friday 16th of October at PICA, 6-8pm. All welcome.

#ArtbankNewAcquisitionAlert

Artbank is pleased to welcome works by Shannon Lyons to the collection.

Lyons' practice explores the complex relationships between people, place and history. Created using coffee, tea and pencil, these delicate works draw on the overlooked stories of Goolugatup Heathcote in Perth, a site with a layered past as a former mental health facility. Through subtle monochromatic imagery and poetic references to remedies such as Calm Mind and Revitalise, Lyons reflects on themes of care, memory and healing.

Now part of the Artbank collection, 'Moral Injury II,' 'Things went on II,' 'Things went on III' and 'Anhedonia (bottomless cup)' showcase the artist's thoughtful approach to uncovering the histories embedded within a place.

Rest Time wraps up on Saturday Feb 14 @bundoorahomestead

This quietly powerful exhibition has been so thoughtfully curated by @lauraelizabethcouttie, who is not only a phenomenal creative curatorial force, but also long time supporter of my practice (and a wonderful friend).
