Very honoured to have been permitted to paint my friend @_zoesims for Kingswood High School. A project aimed at connecting students to their culture and heritage, I couldn’t be more proud and humbled to have painted this piece.
Thanks to Adam, Kaylene and the entire staff and community for their kindness and trust, as well as Zoe for being so passionate and involved in the planning.
Painted using @mtnaustralia x @wattylpaint
An incredible human! Zoe’s bio below.
🖤💛❤️
‘My name is Zoe Sims and I am a proud First Nations Woman born, raised and living on Mulgoa Country of the Darug Nation. I am currently the First Nations Impact Specialist at Koskela, and completing a Masters of Curating and Cultural Leadership at UNSW. I am extremely passionate about First Nations Education and proud to call Western Sydney my home. My family line goes as far back as Wiradjuri Country with ancestors spread from Milson’s Point, along the Nepean and over the Blue Mountains.
I graduated from Jamison High in 2015 and worked there for 3 years as the Aboriginal Education Officer while I completed my Bachelor of Ancient History.
Now I work with First Nations artists from all over Australia, across a range of design opportunities.’

I can now share something I worked on recently. This piece tells and pays respects to the life and story of Uncle Wes Marne: a local Darug elder who passed away last year at 102 years of age.
His daughter Mel and family gave me their permission and blessing to paint this, after my previous mural at Dunheved. Their support has been incredible.
From his infancy growing up on Bigambul country, where he was walked off his land to a mission. The Stanthorpe Hills mountains on the left pay respects to the land he was born on.
The Darug National Park mountains on the right represent his time living on Darug land for more than 50 years.
A King Parrot and Scarlet Honeyeater wait idly by among the Casuarina branches (which I need to get better photos of with better lighting).
The green, red and yellow palette are the colours of Casuarina School in Riverstone; and I would like to thank them for asking, and allowing me, to paint this mural in their school.

Courage & Connection
//
Solid end to the week.
Had the privilege of working with the staff and students of @carolinechisholmglenmorepark to install this mural dedicated to the local area and community.
This began with zoom workshops with the Year 9 Visual Design class researching a broad range of themes and providing sketches: including local natives, birds, symbolism, Red Hands Cave, geometry and their connection and relevance to the school values.
The Red-Tailed Cockatoo as the centrepiece incorporates the mounted light as its eye and represents bravery, communication and cooperation, with the waratah and western sky proudly behind.
SWIPE to see the before shot.
Paints as always by @mtnaustralia and @taubmans with a little help from @wagneraustralia

Proud to have been invited to install this mural for the Spot the Difference exhibition at Penrith Regional Gallery; running from now until late February 2025 alongside an awesome lineup.
This piece is all about community, childhood nostalgia, forthcoming fatherhood, ancient mythology, pop culture, and the nation of Penrith.
A massive thank you to @toby___chapman @tia_madden and the entire curatorial team for a great week and for this opportunity.
Opening night this coming Friday 6-8pm

‘Solitude in the storm.’
A private commission for a backyard poolside mural.
Was really enjoyable working off the heavily contrasted reference of the Victoria Bridge on the Nepean River from the Rowers’ Club view.

Had a lot of time to reflect on how we are all just doing our thing, trying to get by and keep churning through all the challenges, celebrations and lessons that come our way. Being able to get up and use our routines, preparation and experiences to weather those storms with clarity is a powerful and wonderful thing.

‘Ikigai’
This piece tells a narrative that celebrates our multiculturalism, unity, history (and shared histories), the times we marched, trekked and fought; just to have the chance at a free country.
The ‘bluebird of hope’ nestles itself amongst native flora from regions across the world, while a rainbow lorikeet seeks sustenance from local flora: found in the gardens of the school.
On the right, the ‘bluebird of paradise’ waits along the Kokoda trail while wondering if it should retreat further among the PNG hibiscus. Nearby, behind the blood soaked poppies, a superb starling sings a song of unity flanked by eucalyptus and wattle.
Everything is drawn towards the sculpture in the centre; a symbol of a far off time where we might finally join and work together without conflict at the going down of the sun.
Well… it was a nice thought either way.
✌🏼
Was great transforming this dark corridor for a local high school with a very specific and challenging brief.
