Week 1 of Arts By Hearts 3.0 is complete, and what a beautiful start it has been.

We began by getting to know our participants through arts, creativity, collaboration, conversations, and storytelling. Through paint, colours, and teamwork, we became a community.

We moved into Identity Building, where our Identity Coach helped the teenagers understand who they are, challenge limiting beliefs, and begin crafting personal vision statements for their future.

The following days were dedicated to healing. Through counselling sessions, participants explored topics around trauma, mental health, emotional well-being, and resilience. Beyond the group sessions, each teenager had the opportunity for one-on-one conversations with our counsellors, creating safe spaces for reflection and growth.

We wrapped up the week with an impactful Growth Session, where our Growth Coach challenged the participants to dream bigger, see possibilities, and take ownership of their future.

To close the week, we shared clothing items generously donated by friends, partners, and supporters. The smiles, gratitude, and excitement on their faces reminded us why this work matters.

Here’s a glimpse into a week filled with healing, discovery, growth, hope, and transformation.

One thing I hope we normalise about leadership is the fact that you can be responsible for people and still be figuring things out yourself.

You can make decisions and sometimes get them wrong.
You can lead a team and still need guidance.
You can be confident in your expertise and humble enough to admit when you don’t know something.
You can hold people accountable and still apologise when you’re wrong.

Leadership doesn’t require you to become the person who always has the answers. It requires you to take responsibility for the answers you give, the decisions you make, and the impact you have on others.

The goal is to become trustworthy, not untouchable.
And I think there’s a difference.

What quality do you value most in a leader?

Still learning the ropes of vlogging by @shanutiwatope

Document what matters and share what people need to know. Make handovers a standard practice.

Does your organisation have a knowledge-sharing system, or does everyone just know to ask that one person?

God really ate with the idea of church.

He knew we would need more than our quiet moments with Him. We would need people to walk this journey of faith with us.
A place to worship together, laugh together, learn together, and be reminded that we are not alone.

There is something beautiful about growing alongside God’s people.

May we never become so familiar with the gift of gathering that we forget how beautiful it is to belong.

Happy Sunday! ❤️
