The Aura: Drawing and Movement

You may be familiar with the concept of the aura, a field of energy that surrounds the body. This workshop explores the aura and what it holds, stores and emits. Through gentle movement, breath work and markmaking, students will be guided and invited to explore their auric field. After somatic movement and playful drawing exercises we will begin to illustrate the felt sense of our own energetic field or home. This is an experiential invitation to understand our creative and subtle space. What do you think your aura looks like?

Co-taught by Certified Yoga Therapist and Reiki Master Caroline Schmidt and ShapeShifter Art School co-founder and teacher Melissa Dunn, this art-spa afternoon is for everyone. No art experience required but for the experienced artist, this subtle experience is a perfect overlay for your practice. ll movement can be modified to accommodate everyone’s physical needs. by @shapeshifter_art_school

Oh yeah, best way to spend your Saturday! ✍️

Referencing a still-life, students created contour drawings where they later focused on detailed areas.

Next class, they will sculpt with clay solely referencing their drawings and imagination! No still-life.

We can’t wait to see what comes out of this class with Pam McDonnell.

Today is the last day to register for Pam McDonnell’s Free Play: Improvisation in the Studio. 👁️

Part book club and part studio practice, we’ll use Stephen Nachmanovitch’s book Free Play to get out of ruts, hush the inner critical voice, and return to the freedom of play that keeps us close to our own intuitive voice. 🗣️
