POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We had a great time last night in The Figure in Watercolor at @shapeshifter_art_school ! After an exercise on color theory and mixing skin tones, students looked at 16 printed images of individuals of different genders, races, and ethnicities in various lighting. These examples were cropped so closely that students were encouraged to think of them as mini abstracted paintings. Rather than focusing on making body parts naturalistic, students focused on the science and subtleties of color-mixing. They did so well!!

The Aura: Drawing and Movement

You may be familiar with the concept of the aura, a field of energy that surrounds the body. This workshop explores the aura and what it holds, stores and emits. Through gentle movement, breath work and markmaking, students will be guided and invited to explore their auric field. After somatic movement and playful drawing exercises we will begin to illustrate the felt sense of our own energetic field or home. This is an experiential invitation to understand our creative and subtle space. What do you think your aura looks like?

Co-taught by Certified Yoga Therapist and Reiki Master Caroline Schmidt and ShapeShifter Art School co-founder and teacher Melissa Dunn, this art-spa afternoon is for everyone. No art experience required but for the experienced artist, this subtle experience is a perfect overlay for your practice. ll movement can be modified to accommodate everyone’s physical needs.

Come see this piece in the Holiday Show @shapeshifter_art_school

Opening reception Nov 6, 5:30 - 8:00 pm

Wish You Were Here is me and my dad’s song. It’s the only song I ever fully learned on guitar and we played it together at a talent show when I was about 16 years old. Any time I hear it, I’m brought right back here to where we grew up. Love my family so much.

Here are just a few things I taught at my @shapeshifter_art_school class about how to get your art and story seen on social media ❤️

I used to be so scared to put myself out there, in fear of being mocked or feeling “cringe.”

Now I teach artists how to get over their fears so their art can be seen by the masses on social media by using what they have: their phones, their stories.

What I learned after posting every day for over 300 days: it’s not that serious; just show up. It’s basically free exposure therapy!

Thank you to @shapeshifter_art_school for letting me teach!
