It’s a bloody Good Friday!!! Even more so by sharing this news!!!!💫

I’m incredibly proud to share with you a project I’ve been putting together over the last 11 months, The Cut (Vol.2)… the mixtape!!! 😵🔊✨‼️

90 minutes of underground Sydney hip hop. A lot of unreleased gems from some of your favourite Sydney artists and a lot of really special moments captured live and direct from our event back in May 2024.

Arranged and conceptualised by me 🥹 + mixed and mastered by the one and only @threatnique. 👊💥

Super limited. Super Sydney. A very special artefact of a very special moment in time.

Dropping soon!

Big love,
WB by @shar_ftd

She lives! The humble Honey Trap Sound System MTH30’s have made passage to the red centre! Following @shar_ftd on her journey of music, mob and self discovery. The subs arrived in Alice Springs on a pallet 6 months ago, and have just had their first spin at a new underground venue near Todd Mall.

Thank you to everyone involved in the first Mparntwe babe rave!!! We are told that it was one for the history books!!!

The official final wicked bandit farewell.

Sometimes hard to capture the magic in our third spaces, but this vid does a very good job at capturing some of that essence. The power of gathering with intent and purpose. The creation of energy, moments, sentiment and feeling. Memories!!!! Markers of time!!!! We’re in the business of helping people make meaningful memories.

It’s almost a year since I left Sydney and my friends and community, and our beautiful magical third spaces, and packed up my little beep beep with my cat and my best mate and drove out to the desert, to start a new weird and whacky, wonderful life. And this weekend, we mark it accidentally with another party - with new friends and faces and dancers in new-to-me spaces, here in Mparntwe. Life is good! The desert is crisp and cold and poppin. Music and connections and community is still everything - even many thousands of kms away. Hope those of you I know in A-town will be there for some new magic memories, and those in Sydney town are in their own beautiful space, with the people they love, connecting and making memories. Peace x

***5 YEARS HONEY TRAP SOUND SYSTEM***

It’s hard to put into words how meaningful it is to congregate amongst the honey boxes that go brrr.

Something pretty special about women putting on sound. And the magic it has brought my life is pretty obvious. Life long friendships, a platform to explore my artistry, confidence and a place to use my skills, and the discovery of new talents - the ability to create meaningful moments in time, and the understanding that the party is an artwork, from start to end.

Also a privilege and a pleasure to play a small part in sound system culture world wide. Doing it for the women and doing it for Sydney. It’s a pretty magic art form and social and political statement - to take up space, to create community and to heal through dance and movement. Super proud that we are celebrating this journey with you this Saturday.

Join us for a freeparty in the inner west, in a mad spot. Mummas bring your babbies, friends bring your fam, and join us as we celebrate 5 years of @honeytrapsoundsystem

Biggest shout outs to my sister in sound @maiagold___ - my life is forever changed from you. Thanks for holding it down with me for all these years / and letting me share this mad journey and adventure with you. It’s truly something I’ll never forget.

The band is back together for a limited time in Syd city - come experience it whilst you can. I’m back to A-town in a hot minute - will be glorious to see as many friends as possible by the stez this weekend. 💖 taken in Sydney, Australia by @shar_ftd

Done a little mix for the crew at @subjective_eora. I think there is usually some sort of DJ paradox that happens when you record a set coz it never ends up as good as when you’re out and playing for people. But, I’m pretty happy with this one. Lots of different sounds and styles tempos and moods I haven’t mixed much before and sounds that I’ve been rinsing in the NT. Lots of moments of space and dimension. It was fun :-) Thanks for having me!!

P.s it’s my bday so you kind of have to listen? I think. Link in tha spot ^^>> 🥲⛓️‍💥 by @shar_ftd

THIS ARTIST HIGHLIGHT IS A SPECIAL ONE ITS ALSO A BIRTHDAY MIX UP FROM THE VERY TALENTED @shar_ftd AKA WICKED BANDIT

Wicked Bandit is an artist, DJ, and event producer from Sydney who’s now living in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).

Whilst in Sydney, she was the Artistic Director of Honey Trap Sound System and producer of The New Style on 2SER. She curated and produced grassroots events and free parties, and released a mixtape called ‘The Cut’.

Wicked Bandit is a sound system enthusiast, lover of deep, dark, heavy beats, bass driven music, and music that celebrates the MC. She loves playing across a spectrum of genres, moving through different tempos and moods. She believes if the DJ has fun, everyone has fun.

In this set, Wicked Bandit plays tunes that have been resonating with her over the past two months in Central Australia. Leaning in to a more spacious and textural sonic landscape compared to her usual Sydney sets. Enjoy!
