What a marvellous morning with @sharnajackson at @rokeslyjunior! Students got to hear about Sharna’s gripping, brilliant new novel #TheStreetArtMystery, a page-turner full of spray-painted clues and unexpected twists, plus they solved some mysteries of their own in real-time… Sharna’s event was packed with tips on how to get creative and write your own mysteries, too - the children left brimming with ideas! Thanks to Sharna, to Puffin, and to Chris and all the staff at Rokesly ❤️☀️📕 by @sharnajackson

I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The street art mystery’ by @sharnajackson . It’s a mystery set in West London during the school holidays, and it’s such an easy and engaging read with short chapters separated into days from Thursday to carnival day on the Sunday.

Sharna Jackson was inspired by the street artwork she saw on the Tate Modern’s walls when she worked there years ago. I also love the fact that the character Jonathan, who we meet later on in the book, is inspired by one of her friends, who teaches young people to skateboard.

The story is narrated by Margot, one of the three children in the story. Together, Margot, Wes and Josie call themselves the Copseys. When the unexpected happens on a visit to London to see the Notting Hill carnival and stay at Margot’s new home, they end up investigating murder. Just when you think they’ve cracked the case, there’s another twist! Who is up to TRIKs?

📚 It’s World Storytelling Day… and we’ve got a story to share!

A few weeks ago, the team joined Sharna Jackson on a street art tour of Cheltenham and let’s just say… we may have left something behind for you to find 👀

Inspired by ‘The Street Art Mystery’, we’ve been thinking about the stories hidden in plain sight — on walls, in corners and across the places we pass every day. ✨

Margot, Wesley and Josephine follow a trail of clues through West London — from skate parks to canal towpaths, all the way to the vibrant chaos of Notting Hill Carnival — chasing down a super creative murderer in a mystery full of art, energy and unexpected twists. 🕵️

So… consider this your clue 👀
Did you spot a copy we left behind?

Street art has inspired @sharnajackson for years – not just how it looks, but what it says, and to whom.

Years ago, when she worked at Tate, the Street Art exhibition appeared on the outside walls of the gallery – temporary, public and powerful. So powerful she made a little game about it.

Then, on her travels from São Paulo to New York, Rotterdam to London, she has always been drawn to art that lives in shared spaces. Art that can challenge, question – and sometimes disappear overnight.

All of that made its way into The Street Art Mystery. Because sometimes the best clues aren’t in a notebook – they’re already written on the walls.
