When I showed the girls the programme for @cheltfestivals this year & asked them to choose some events, my oldest immediately picked the Creative Writing workshop by @sharnajackson who led a wonderful session. M has read a couple of books by Sharna Jackson already & says she really enjoyed the pace of Street Art Mystery. I highly recommend these books for UKS2+ Thank you to Sharna for inspiring my daughter and for your time ❤️ (Swipe to see more! ➡️) #childrensbookstagram #childrensliteraturefestival #childrenswritingworkshop #creativewritingworkshop #kidlit I thought this format was excellent - a workshop where the children learn about the process of writing, while collaboratively creating a story. Sharna Jackson came round to see all the attendees during the session as well as speaking to them at the signing afterwards. It was a relaxed session & everyone was as very engaged! These are the notes made by myself and M - a mixture of the collaborative mystery story ideas and M’s own ideas 💡

Who doesn’t love a book stack? 📚❤️ This was the little stack from some of the authors we saw at Cheltenham Literature Festival this weekend. We are incredibly privileged to be able to buy tickets and meet authors in person, hearing all about their writing process and how they get their ideas is truly inspiring. My girls love to write and always come away with heads full of ideas. They choose who they go to see and I truly wish every child had the same access as there’s nothing like a first-hand experience with authors/illustrators. Schools/teachers, if you don’t have the budget then please try other ways of funding school events so that more children have the opportunity to experience something like the events at book festivals. Maybe get your PTA to help fund author/illustrator visits if they can? Speak to your local indie bookstore about the possibility of linking up with local children’s authors! Go to the local library and link up. Ask a local business to support you. There are so many ways to fund author/illustrator visits! Huge thank you to the authors and illustrators we met at Cheltenham Literature Festival this year, who were all very generous with their time.

It was a wonderful weekend at Cheltenham Literature Festival! Mia and Helen had a lovely time hearing from some of the stars of children’s books — @digressica, @acaseforbooks, @sarahcrossanwriter, @faridahlikestea, @sharnajackson and @rbiddulph. We saw many more brilliant children’s authors and illustrators… and even spotted a manticore! Thank you @cheltfestivals for hosting such an inspiring weekend. We can’t wait to read all our signed books!

A very quick Cheltenham Literature Festival photo dump ❤️ We love it every year. I think this year we really packed it in over two days, managed to stay with friends & see them too. Two tired girls, two tired parents. A cup filling weekend! As always, an absolute pleasure to meet authors & illustrators in person. I’ll post more soon, but for now this is our highlights reel ✌🏻

Final morning stroll round Rotterdam before a goodbye, for now, to Myles and @sharnajackson. As always, ace to see these beauts. The train system in The Netherlands is great, was so much fun to head on day trips from Rotterdam. Def need to add Leiden and Eindhoven to the list next time. A final drink in The Big Smoke too, before the train back up North. #Rotterdam2026 #DBisEPIC #TeamBBsForLife #TeamBBsOnTour #TeamBBsRambles
