Review of SINISTER SECTETS by @thiswritersays

This is the 5th installment in the Cassidy Knox series. It is a suspenseful crime thriller that will be sure to keep you engaged to the satisfying & unexpected ending.

Mari is being framed for a murder she didn’t commit & the lengths she goes to clear her name.

If you like your thrillers full of secrets, blind anger, vengeance, jealousy & murderous intent, then this is the book for you. They can be read as standalone’s, however I recommend reading them in order.

A shout out to the adorable animals that are depicted. Chomp the Alligator, Same Mule, the Pigs Chip & Bagel and especially Stephano the Pygmy Goat.

Favorite Line: “Which is worse? Having someone you suspected prove you were right, or the betrayal of misplaced trust?”

Review of MURDER YOUR DARLINGS by @jenna_blum

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Pub Date: 1/13/26

The story unfolds at a nice pace & I found myself immersed in the world the author created. It is a clever & entertaining, twisty psychological suspense with strong character development. I found it entertaining & loved the feisty parts of the story. Not only is it feisty, but also has simmering tension throughout with the two of the main characters which brings us to a satisfying ending.

If you like your books filled with a web of secrets, lies, deceit, manipulation & murder, then this is a read for you!

Gosh….there is so much to say about this masterly executed, disturbing & addictive novel. Saratoga shows she is a master at descriptive writing & vivid imagery which make for a daring, harrowing, grim & absolutely riveting story that is also visceral & violent.

This is a gothic horror & sapphic romance retelling of Bluebeard. The story is set in Busirane Manor with a young artist who moves in with her new wife. From there we experience the dark, sinister & terrifying happenings that occur within.

Atmospheric, brutal, raw, unforgiving, deeply unsettling & drenched in psychological dread. This book will leave you petrified. Just wait until you get to the part with the statues! Gasp inducing, heart pounding & mind bending!!

If you like dark, unsettling & sinister anxiety inducing thrillers with a supernatural element that will scare the pants off you, then this one’s for you.

** I give this a standing ovation **

Review of TWISTED SISTER by @thiswritersays

TWISTED SISTER is an immersive & addictive psychological thriller built on unsettling subject matter that you won’t want to put down.

The story is cleverly crafted with writing that is exceptional. You will feel the psychological turmoil & tension as you get deeper into the story.

Told in multiple POVs, with great character development & pacing that brings you to a startling & emotional conclusion.

I cannot recommend this enough.

Favorite Line: “Sweat rises to the surface of my flesh with a million tiny needle pricks, tattooing this moment onto my soul.”

Review of CHOOSE ME by @tess.gerritsen & Gary Braver

I have been a die hard fan of Tess Gerritsen from the beginning. Love her medical thrillers & the Rizzoli & Isles series.

In this murder mystery / thriller there are no happy endings, just grief, loss & tragedy.

The book starts in the past & flip flops between past & present (before & after). And the story is told in multiple POV’s. I was hooked from the first sentence & the rest of the book would not let me go.

I found the two main characters (Taryn & Jack) complex & very believable in their actions. Taryn with her dark side (let’s say mental illness) & Jack your typical male. Tragedy strikes both of these characters & the outcomes are devastating.

The heart of the story is centered around marriage, betrayal, adultery, stalking, obsession & manipulation. And the conclusion was fitting to the story.

If you like your suspense filled with lies, deceit, secrets & deception, then this is the book for you.

Favorite Line: “Girls like her, you can’t talk sense to them. You can’t reason with them. They’re like wild animals who need to be reined in. Controlled.” by @sharonbishop182

Here is my review:

Dig too deep, and some secrets won’t stay buried.

Nicole Annbury is at the top of her game with her 3rd novel & I am patiently awaiting #4!

This is a suspense / thriller with multiple POVs, a twisted & entertaining plot as well as unpredictable with unforeseen twists. There are flawed characters and a mother you will love to hate. As the plot unfolded, I was enveloped in a sense of dread, unease, and tension. I actually felt each character’s emotions as if I was there with them.

Although this book had a lot of moving parts, everything came together seamlessly in the end.

If you like your novels filled with a web of lies, deceit, manipulation & at times brutal, then this is the novel for you.

If you haven’t read the author’s backlist (The Final Sentence & The Signature Line) you are missing out.

Favorite Line: “Her tears landed on the soft, padded head of her teddy, who dutifully did his job of soaking up all her sadness.”
