To our beloved son Dor,

On your 24th birthday, I want to tell you just how proud I am of you — and how much I admire the amazing person you’ve become.

You're our middle child, yet you’ve always stood out in your own unique way. From a young age, you’ve set goals and conquered them — in surf competitions and in life.

For the past year and a half, you’ve been living in Hawaii, far from us. Honestly, I think it’s harder for us than it is for you… we miss you terribly.

You’re so hardworking — studying at college, working, surfing, spending time with friends, reading, playing guitar, doing meditation, going to the gym — and still managing to stay balanced and joyful. I truly admire you for living life to the fullest, exploring the world, expanding your horizons and your circle of friends.

I wish for you to continue fulfilling your dreams:
A home on the North Shore ,
a small garden with the most organic fruits and vegetables,
a kind and respectful Jewish wife,
and good children who will be proud of their father!
you will pass on to them your most precious values:
generosity, integrity, love, courage, determination, a healthy mind and body… and ....yes — surfing from day one! 🏄‍♂️

As the legendary surfer Kelly Slater once said:
“My belief is that ‘heaven’ and ‘hell’ are metaphorical terms for what you do with your life. At any moment, you have the ability to make your life a blissful paradise or a living hell.”

Dear Dor, keep choosing paradise.... joy, light, and love.

Love you endlessly,
Mom and dad 💙 by @sharonbit2999
