Glory to God

A small update from the Angelico Art Award 2026.
5 Loaves and 2 Fish has found a new home.
I’m grateful that a work which began as my reflection on a familiar biblical story connected with someone enough for them to want to live with it.
Thank you to everyone who stopped, looked, asked questions and shared their thoughts about the work.
There is something especially meaningful about seeing a painting leave the exhibition and continue its life elsewhere.

5 Loaves and 2 Fish

90x60cm
Acrylics

It was created in response to this year’s Angelico Art Award theme:
“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.”
The moment before the miracle.
He doesn’t know what will happen to what he is carrying.
He simply brings what he has.
Love is not always something grand or dramatic. Sometimes it is simply choosing to do something with what we have, even when what we have seems very small.
He acts.
He offers what he has.

Placed this biblical story within an anonymous modern crowd because I wanted to ask what this story might look like today.
We live in a world where there is so much need, and it is easy to feel that what we can offer is insignificant.
A little kindness.
A little generosity.
A little courage.
A little faith.

But perhaps the question isn’t whether what we carry is enough.

Perhaps the question is whether we are willing to carry it forward and offer it.

For me, this painting is about that quiet moment of action before we know the outcome.

The miracle hasn’t happened yet.

And perhaps that is what loving in truth and action can look like—not always something spectacular, but something small, tangible and real. by @sharonlysim
