Walt was truly 'Knife People'. His passion for his niche was unmatched.⁠
⁠
Trevor and I have captured ALL of his Latama stilettos for the past 15 years.⁠
⁠
He would sell out every batch we captured. His followers are rabid collectors. His business acumen was remarkable.⁠
⁠
Walt was in NYC advertising in his earlier professional years. His passion for stilettos and other knives became his second job. ⁠
⁠
One of his modern automatics won 'Most Innovative Knife' at a past Blade Show. (Fill me in?).⁠
⁠
One of THE most likable guys on the planet. We were privileged to work with him.⁠
⁠
His charming and knowledgable wife Malgosia helped behind the scenes: Packing, labeling, distributing. She is going to carry on. Business as usual.⁠

I went to his wake last Sunday. I may have been the only knife person there. The family was WELL aware of his stature in this regard. I represented us.⁠

I could not let him pass without a mention. This will surprise and disappoint many.⁠

We love the people in our community who are so passionate about knives and people involved.⁠

Wonderful EURO styling! @JanHafinecKnives combines curves, finishes and materials which draw the viewer into a closer look.⁠

That globe insert has transformed the guard into an attentive EYE. That it's a 'Hawkbill' blade simply confirms the choices.⁠

It's got satin outer finish and bright mirror polish in the 'eye'.⁠
⁠
Desert Ironwood for sure. GREAT hamon activity.⁠

The OKHQURÜM is a large cavalry sabre in the style of 11thC Eurasian steppe nomads.⁠
⁠
In addition to the impressively large blade, it features an early style forged and brazed guard, hollow form pommel and traditional elements. This piece has many changes in texture and polish to highlight the fittings and scabbard features. ⁠
⁠
The scabbard is made from poplar with a mulberry paper laminate and leather cover. It features period D hangers and a sculpted steel chape. The grip is also fit with a hand woven goat skin troddel (lanyard/ tassel) with a blended wax finish.⁠
⁠
"The hobby horse is a surprise for the owner and has a custom badge and hand woven bridal, because I'm a nutter. Cavalry included!" His words, not mine!⁠
