I thought you all might like to meet my hiking buddy, Ted. Ted was with me again for this sunset hike in the Presidential range a few nights ago, and this was my favorite picture from the whole night up there. We enjoyed the sun setting over the Ammonoosuc Valley below, ate some summer sausage and crackers, then descended with the aid of headlamps and - in Ted's case - night vision doggie eyeballs. taken in Presidential Mountain Range by @shaunterhune

Nothing like a GORGEOUS Saturday in NH to get you fired up for a little weekend rumble in the White Mountains! Who’s feeling frisky today? This photo from the top of Lafayette looking south. .

Despite having to chip ice off my windshield this morning, and much of the region now being “past peak,” there are still off-the-beaten-paths that look like this right now! The foliage is absolutely voluminous on this VT back road I recently photographed. What an epic fall we’re having - windshield ice and all :) taken in Vermont by @shaunterhune

Yesterday I experienced one of the most awe-inspiring moments I’ve ever been given as a photographer. This picture represents a rare confluence of contrasting elements: warmth and frost, transition and stillness - a visual reminder that the most breathtaking moments in nature cannot be rushed. They are simply a gift to be received. This is one of the most dramatic and special photographs of my career, taken in the fresh dusting of snow and luminous high-country light of New Hampshire’s Presidential Range. taken in White Mountains, NH by @shaunterhune

Flume Gorge has been one of the most enticing and magical places in New Hampshire for many years, going back to the days of petticoats and top hats here in the White Mountains. There’s an iconography about this place that goes hand in hand with the Old Man of the Mountain and the mystique of Franconia Notch itself. I’ve always wanted to capture my own unique glimpse of this enchanting place, all alone in the depths of the chasm - and this week I finally did! “Ancient Echos” is now a part of the Shaun Terhune collection! The fall colors add a touch of warmth that you should definitely see for yourself, perhaps on a cloudier day when the mountain foliage isn’t as easy to see. taken in Franconia Notch, White Mountains by @shaunterhune

I worked really hard for this picture. The more I see AI permeating social media, the more I hope people still appreciate real photography, even a B&W photo like this. Isn’t there something special about how a picture strikes you when all the color is stripped away, captured in pure tones of light and shadow? I hope you enjoy this picture of a beautiful NH black bear in a birch tree. I love my work. I hope it’s a still a long time before this ludicrous race towards increasing technology takes away my livelihood with a camera. taken in New Hampshire by @shaunterhune

Wow, did I ever get lucky with the light on this moose. And I got lucky just finding her at all! But luck isn’t quite all there is to the story. You know how sometimes - when you’re driving around New England - you’ll sometimes see a swampy spot where it looks like moose have been stomping around in the mud near the road? Well, I had a hunch about one of those moose-stompy spots, so I went and sat next to one in the dark. Look who showed up right at sunrise to get a mud-puddle drink and a few sapling nibbles! Her summer coat has almost grown in fully now. Just a gorgeous moose in the New Hampshire woods. taken in New Hampshire by @shaunterhune
