We heard the first snow had fallen high in the Presidential Range in New Hampshire, so naturally we had to go find it. ❄️🍂

Watching the Cog Railway climb out of peak foliage and disappear into a snow covered Mount Washington felt like watching fall turn into winter right before our eyes.

The first snow always feels like a little reminder of all the good things to come. 🚂❄️🎄

A few photos of New Hampshire right now, from Lake Winnipesaukee up through Franconia Notch and into Littleton. October is putting on quite a show. 🍁

For anyone thinking about heading up this week, there’s still plenty of fall to catch. My recommendation: head north through Franconia Notch and make your way into Littleton. Stop at @schillingbeerco for a beer, wander around Main Street, and visit my friend @shaunterhune photography gallery while you’re there.

From Littleton, follow Route 302 east through Bethlehem and Bretton Woods, then down through Crawford Notch toward North Conway. Keep going to Conway and take the Kancamagus Highway west back to Lincoln to complete the mountain loop before heading south toward the lake.

Give yourself the whole day, start early, and leave plenty of time to stop along the way. The drive is only half the fun—please support the little shops, galleries, and restaurants that make these towns worth visiting.

Pack a sweater, bring your camera, and take the long way home.

- Artwork —> The Totem - @bansupplyco - Their art stirs memories of adventures where your heart can travel back to at any given moment.
- Artwork —> The Hummingbird - @andyjoychase - Andy’s work has such a beautifully organic feel that reaches for my love of nature and the spiritual beings that reside there. I love the message this hummingbird brings me: ‘live with joy and resilience’.
- Artwork —> The Elusive Ermine! (Also called ‘stoat’) - @shaunterhune - a talented photographer here in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Our foyer is where we had a surprise ermine visitor when we moved into this old house (second photo)! We quickly named him/her Ernie, and also quickly let him/her OUT the front door! Needless to say, this house came with a ‘few’ projects!
- Ned the Gnome. - Ned isn’t just a holiday gnome, he is a year-round reminder that yes, our entryway CAN in fact be a fairy forest.
- Paint - ’Secret Garden’ (@sherwinwilliams 6181) - A rich dark green hue that takes me to the forest where I feel my body, mind and spirit relax. It also gives a nice contrast to the warm wood tones of our stair treads.
- Natural Wood Finishes. The warmth of wood in a space calms the nervous system and grounds us. Did you know that when you surround yourself with wood (home OR forest), your blood pressure and stress levels can naturally lower?
- Soft Lighting. Our entryway has a ‘moody’ depth of emotion that feels like home for my nervous system. The light fixtures in this space emit a soft light (2,500-3,000 K).

Littleton, NH was everything I love about a small town — cute shops, kids happily wandering, wildflowers, rushing water, a cute covered bridge…

…and then I got caught on a scam phone call for an entire HOUR. 🤦🏼‍♀️

So we did what any reasonable people would do and escaped to the Basin.

And suddenly the day looked completely different. 🌲💦

Wow wow wow wow! July FF was so much fun. From one end of town to the other, ya’ll showed up for our community grassroots event despite the heat and we cannot thank you enough 👏🏻🎆

We took our old NH log cabin bathroom down to the bones and rebuilt it with locally found stone from the creek and reclaimed barn wood from around the valley. A little New England history in every board… and the cave shower like we’ve always dreamt of.

There’s something about summer in a small mountain 🏔️ town.

✨ The river gets louder. The days get longer. Main Street fills with people wandering with nowhere in particular to be.

Littleton in the summer ☀️ isn’t just a place, it’s a collection of small moments that somehow feel bigger than they should.

And in just a few short months, those moments will be back when the Littleton Motel reopens 🤗 for the season on May 1, 2026.

What a week away up in the White Mountains! Every time we go I am reminded of what a special place it is, and I can tell you this, it makes me miss the hell out of my Dad. That was our place, our whole family, but I never hit a trail without Him by my side. I’m fortunate to be able to return often and make new memories with our crew, while still going to all the old haunts I remember as a kid. I’m thankful for that ❤️🎿 Who would’ve thought we’d be coming home to RI to more snow than NH?? This winter has been so fun, but now I’m officially ready for spring! 🌸
