It’s incredibly hard to write that I had to say goodbye to my Trixie 🤍 in her own poetic way she left this world almost to the same day she first entered it, just days after her 13th bday, a full circle life moment. one more birthday and Christmas.

In the end she made it known it was her time but kept a cheerful disposition, even as age and nature worked against her. It’s devastatingly sad, but I’m so grateful that we were by her side with music playing, candles lit, and arms around her giving her kisses. she was calm and at peace, and gently passed over.

I want to honour her in every way, and celebrate the incredible spirit and soul-mate that she was, we are forever bonded. Trixie was truly a best friend, side-kick, and adventure buddy from trail hikes and road-trips, to camping and cabin long weekends with friends. she was happiest right by my side, I by hers.

It’s strange, saying “goodbye”, because I know that death is a universal experience but this one hurts more because I was so connected to her soulfully.

Trixie was exceptionally intuitive and smart, for example while sleeping (usually at the end of the bed) if I was having a bad dream she would softly crawl over and tap me with one paw until I woke up, but gentle as not to startle me - if that didn’t work she would whimper and then nudge me with her nose, making sure I would wake up, at which point I would hug and kiss her, thanking her for pulling me out of the said “nightmare”. We have had countless moments I won’t go into here that were spiritually connected, where she has taken care of me, or sensed what I needed, and she was just there.

There’s that quote that says, “we are all just walking each other home” — which brings comfort — I know I’ll see her again. Rest in peace Trixie. You’ll forever be with me, in my heart, and tethered soulfully. 🤍 by @shawn_ayers
