💦 Water play is always a winner, especially on a hot day.
We added shiny shells, sea creatures, and a diver which sparked lots of imaginative play. 💦

❤️💛🖤

We enjoyed celebrating NAIDOC Week by reading a favourite First Nations story, Emu Dancing, in which the art work is beautifully done in a dot painting style.

We then did our own dot painting on a few strips of bark which had fallen off a local gum tree and made a hanging mobile.
My grandson was very happy with the end result !

😊 💚 😊 💚 😊

THIS IS MY HAPPY PLACE is a delightfully heartwarming and thought provoking book, which beautifully captures the very essence of happiness ~ for children and adults alike. The vibrant illustrations exude happiness and are full of warmth and joy.

“Do you have a special Happy Place
where a smile swims over the whole of your face? “

😊 This thought provoking book took me back to my treasured childhood memories of all the wonderful times we had as a family, from making sand castles at the beach, licking the spoon whilst baking with my Mum and the love and laughter during fun celebrations.

😊 I asked my grandchildren where their Happy Place was.
My granddaughter said “It’s baking “ and my grandson said “At my house and I also love coming to your place!”🩷🩵

Many thanks to @emma.bowd.au for our review copy.
My grandchildren absolutely love it and I have to admit that I raced out and bought a copy for a a special 3 year old’s birthday present . 🎁

💛🐥💛🐥💛🐥
We had fun creating an Easter chick collage using recycled cardboard, paint sticks, feathers and googly eyes!
I suggested a yellow chick but my grandson insisted on a rainbow chick and I love his choice!

We got inspiration for our chick from the Usborne First Activities Easter Fun book by Fiona Watt and Katie Lovell.
The activities are simple and use everyday items.

Today I’m sharing a couple of heart-warming books by Michael Wong @piccopuppy from his ‘Unconditional Love Series’.

🥳 I WISH YOU A HAPPY BIRTHDAY ~
is a beautiful ode to a child on their birthday, capturing a parent’s unconditional love, and heartfelt wishes. The illustrations are vibrant and eye catching and my grandson was completely captivated by them.
Years ago, I would have loved sharing this book with my young children on their birthdays! It would certainly make a special birthday gift.

⭐️ NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS~
is an empowering read which encourages children to follow their dreams in life, no matter how big or small.

The rhyming text cleverly makes you realise that you discover things you didn’t know about yourself, when you never give up on your dreams.
A very inspiring read.

🎨 The illustrations in both books by @eugene_smolenceva are vibrant and perfectly support the text. My grandchildren pored over them for ages!

⭐️ Many thanks to @piccopuppy for our review copy.

🌿 🎅 🌿
A throwback to our Christmas Wreath.
Easy to make with children and
great for making your house look festive.

🌿 Cut out a cardboard circle
🌿 Glue on foliage (I’m sure a glue gun would be an asset)
🌿 Bind with string
🌿 Glue on your choice of decorations, such as stars, Pom poms, ribbon
🌿 Complete with a good sprinkle of glitter and a big ribbon.
❤️ Enjoy making special memories together ❤️

🧡🎃 Happy Halloween 🧡

Sharing some of our Halloween inspired and child led sensory play.
My grandson spotted these Halloween resources in the cupboard and asked if he could use them with some rice.
🧡 I love it when they initiate their play!

He then decided to make a brew in the witches’ cauldron. He had lots of fun and was totally engaged in this activity for ages.
He also loves The Usborne Spooky Colouring and Activity Book. It’s very inspiring without being too scary for little ones.

💜Thank you to Kristie @when_pegs_fly_learning for our gorgeous October witch peg doll!

We recently took our grandchildren to the Melbourne Royal Show. This is an agricultural show which has been running since 1848 and it runs for a few weeks every September.
We had a fabulous day with plenty to see and do.

We patted the farm animals and saw a sheep being shorn. We fell in love with Peanut the little baby calf, who was only 1 week old. We laughed at the llamas chewing their feed and marvelled at the motorbike stunts in the main arena.
We climbed inside an army tank and talked to the soldiers. We also chatted to a friendly policeman, who let us sit in his police motorcycle.

We bought show bags, full of sweet treats and Pops ate hot jam donuts.
The train ride to the Showgrounds was a hit too!
😊 It’s such a great family day out and we can recommend it.

There were also water stations in many locations and free samples of sunscreen, which was fabulous considering our sudden burst of warm weather.
The show is on till October 1st. and you need to buy tickets online.

🌈 Follow the RAINBOW

🌈 I was thrilled to be invited to the recent Book Week launch of Juliet Sampson’s @julietmsampsonauthor fabulous picture book, Follow the RAINBOW

❤️ I’ve been an Insta buddy and fan of Juliet’s books for many years, so it was very special to finally meet in person and help celebrate her delightful new children’s book.

🌈 Follow the RAINBOW takes the reader on a magical adventure as Ruby and Tavish, the little dog, search Aunty Anne’s farm, trying to uncover the mystery of what lies at the end of the rainbow.

Juliet drew inspiration for the story from her sweet Westie dog Bryce and her childhood love of the Wizard of Oz.

🌈My grandson was captivated with the story and the stunning illustrations by @anneyryan
Anne is an art teacher and used a mixture of collage, crayons and paint to create the beautiful artwork in this book.

Follow the RAINBOW would be a wonderful addition to a home or preschool/ school library.

🌈 Juliet provided the craft materials for children to make a rainbow at her book launch,so my grandson was very excited to make his own rainbow. Thank you Juliet 🫶

“I know where the spotty day is …it’s where you get spots in the sky!”

Creating art really sparks children’s imagination and gives them the freedom to create whatever they like.
It’s also wonderful for developing fine motor skills and strengthening those little hand muscles.
It’s also lots of FUN!

Do your children enjoy painting?
