Ophelia
My favorite tree
The woman who lives at the edge of the world
A seed dropped in volcanic rock
Hundreds of years pass before her roots reach the sea
We stare in awe
As if her grandeur always was
But her story precedes our time

Humans like to say “keep going”
As if there was ever a choice
As if giving up and rotting to your death is an option
Wild creatures know no such choice
There is only one path
Keep reaching for the sun
If there is no soil to nurture you
You must expand your roots until you find
What you can hold onto
What can hold onto you

Ground yourself, steady in the wind
If you did not bud in a nourishing forest
with your fellow trees
Your path is still the same
Grow tall and strong anyway
with what you were given

One day
You will lie atop the coast
hugging both the land the sand and the sea
They will look at you in awe
As if your grandeur always was
Every root that struggled and wiggled and dug further
hoping for a drink from the earth
Has become your art, your strength, your ground now
To share, to show and teach
To hold the next creature in your shade
So they too know
There is only one path
Thank you, Ophelia

I first discovered Kung Fu in 2021, through a family of masters who had just settled in Costa Rica from China. I came to live with them to help build their farm, and followed their strict regime of daily chores, farm work and training. They built a training hall on top of a mountain in the middle of the jungle, we were so high up we could dance in the clouds and touch the sun. My time with them changed me forever. When I finally came home, I knew I needed to continue to live in “the way”, and further my training and skill. I was lucky enough to be accepted into a school with a lineage tracing back to the original Shaolin monks. Who I have become, am still becoming, I owe much of to the values and lessons I have learned through this journey, through my Sifus and brothers and sisters. I am constantly challenged, humbled, and grateful for this path I look forward to being on for life 🐉 by @sheekluch_

My sister, my light, my oldest friend. Mate of my soul, born of the same womb. I like knowing some of my cells were left behind for you to hold onto. For us to be forever intertwined and connected in every realm.
30 years today. 30 years I’ve had the pleasure of being loved by you. 30 years of you shining into the brightest star I’ve ever seen. I am so lucky, blessed to share this life with you and truly be seen, be known by you, better than I know myself. With your big joy and playful heart, I am home. You are home. I am constantly left in awe at your beautiful mind, your creative soul, your perseverance and strength. I could write books upon books about you.
Happy 30th Birthday my sweet baby sister, somewhere in my heart you will always be 4 years old, Lamby in one hand and my hand in the other. Thank you for being you 💫 taken in Cape Cod by @sheekluch_

Goodbye Winter
I’ve come to appreciate you
Being wrapped in your dark cocoon
The internal reflection, the peace
That exists only covered in your blanket
The light is coming now
I thank you, farewell
Welcome, unfurling wings
Time to begin new again
Time to fly

Our lives are all brushstrokes in the painting of the universe
Your touch of color
Ripples across the canvas
Every stroke exquisitely necessary
