We started collecting name ideas and a few tiny clothes. All gray and white, this time.⁠
⁠
We decided the baby would sleep in the pretty, little alcove in our bedroom. I found some wallpaper with tiny deer on it.⁠
⁠
We interviewed midwives.⁠
⁠
It is amazing how many things are set in motion, in expectation… and you begin to fall in love.⁠
⁠
But sometimes, the story turns.⁠
Sometimes, instead of birth cries, there's silence.⁠
Instead of a first photo, a final goodbye.⁠
⁠
We named her Wren… our little bird who flew straight to Heaven.⁠
⁠
At first, I kept our loss quiet. But when I shared, the response became its own kind of miracle:⁠
People started sending me peonies, my house was filled with them. ⁠
⁠
Over 400 women showed up with stories, with tears, with gardens planted in memory.⁠
⁠
This is what I know now:⁠
🌿 Grief is not linear.⁠
🌿 Healing happens in community.⁠
🌿 And remembrance is a sacred act.⁠
⁠
So today, on Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day, I light a candle for my little Wren and for all the little lives that left too soon. ⁠
⁠

Multiple times a week this verse is making an appearance in my life, that’s one way you know the Lord is trying to get your attention. 😂⁠
⁠
Some versions say that you will “rest in the shadow of the Almighty”, which is an even more intimate depiction, one marked by stillness and quiet trust. ⁠
⁠
There is a simplicity to this passage that can be boiled down to this. . . ⁠
⁠
dwelling = rest.⁠
⁠
To dwell in the presence and promises of God will create a space that nothing else can create. It is a piece of Heaven on earth, no matter the storm that surrounds you. ⁠
⁠
Draw close to God, under His wing, close to His heart. The things of this earth will grow strangely dim. ⁠
⁠
