It’s been a little over 10 years since we made the move to the hollow full time. Not going to sugarcoat the fact that if we were on an episode of Fixer Upper, it would be the slowest renovation project ever! 🤭 And let me be the first to admit that I didn’t fully embrace this season of waiting! 🤷‍♀️

In the beginning, I struggled with all the unexpected projects that we hadn’t anticipated when we first purchased our farm. More money. More time. More waiting. 🤦‍♀️

Despite our slow progress at times, the Lord has been gracious in teaching us, that through the waiting, some of the most powerful life lessons are learned. 🙌🏻

When we understand that real change & transformation takes time , patience, & commitment (whether that is in marriage, parenting, career, ministry, or our faith) we see that some times things have to get a little or a lot messy before they get better.

This room in our farmhouse was used as a storage closet by the old owners. When we moved in, we made it our TV/library room. After our oldest departed for college, we played a game of Tetris with the rooms & made this our guest room/college student’s room during the weekends & holidays. ✋🏻

I love the way it turned out! It still needs the crown molding installed. My husband has it primed & ready to put up. The doors & trim work, still need a refresh coat of paint, but other than that, the space looks better than it ever has! I’ll share some of the befores in my stories this week. It’s an example that you don’t have to spend a lot of money or tear down walls to make an impact in a small space. It’s a “mini reni” at its finest! 🫶

Got scraps or fabric you’ve been saving for something special? These ideas might just be “that something“ (and surprise: none of them require sewing!) 👇

🖼️ Fabric frame mats by @sincerelymariedesigns
💡 Pleated lampshade by @sheholdsdearly
🪑 Fabric-covered furniture by @apartmenttherapy

All of these projects are perfect for using what you already have and proving your stash DOES have purpose beyond the shelf.

Don’t forget to log your fabrics in Sewjo so those creative sparks turn into finished projects and not just “someday” ideas. 💛

@sheholdsdearly your picture of Laundry day inspired me to paint a picture of your beautiful home. I love the smell of linens freshly washed and hung out to dry! I think this will be called “Laundry day”. I hope you like it!
