In 2020, I started the Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run in memory of my friend, Lt. Col. Shelli Huether, who served in the Tennessee Air National Guard.

This November will be our 7th Honor Run. ❤️🇺🇸

What began as a way to honor Shelli has grown into an annual event where people come together to run, walk or ruck in honor of our veterans, active military and their families.

But the truth is, for me, it goes even deeper than Shelli.

These two pictures are part of my story.

The first is my dad, who served in the U.S. Navy and eventually retired from the Navy. He’s in Heaven now.

The second is my stepdad, Roy, who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

I’ve personally experienced how deeply military service can affect not only the person who serves, but the family who loves them.

There are sacrifices that are easy to see. And then there are others that can ripple through a family for years—sometimes in ways people outside that family will never fully understand.

So while the Honor Run began because I wanted to honor Shelli and the incredible life of service she lived, somewhere along the way I realized this event gives me a place to honor them, too.

My dad.
Roy.
Shelli.

And so many other men and women whose service changed not only their lives, but the lives of the people who loved them.

That’s why this event is so personal to me.

On November 7, we’ll gather again in Brentwood, TN to run, walk and ruck. But underneath all of it is something much bigger than a race.

We remember. We honor. And we recognize that an entire family carries part of the sacrifice.

If military service is part of your family’s story too, I’d love to hear about your person. ❤️🇺🇸

And if you’d like to know how you can participate, volunteer, sponsor, or donate then find the link in my bio 🇺🇸

These smiles say it all. ❤️🇺🇸

There’s something pretty great about crossing that finish line, getting that medal around your neck, and knowing you just accomplished something — while being part of something that means even more.

Whether you run, walk or ruck the 5K or 10K, or take on the 8-Hour challenge, there’s a place for YOU at the Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run.

Come challenge yourself. Come have some fun. And most importantly, come help us honor the men and women who have served our country. 🇺🇸
