In 2020, I started the Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run in memory of my friend, Lt. Col. Shelli Huether, who served in the Tennessee Air National Guard.

This November will be our 7th Honor Run. ❤️🇺🇸

What began as a way to honor Shelli has grown into an annual event where people come together to run, walk or ruck in honor of our veterans, active military and their families.

But the truth is, for me, it goes even deeper than Shelli.

These two pictures are part of my story.

The first is my dad, who served in the U.S. Navy and eventually retired from the Navy. He’s in Heaven now.

The second is my stepdad, Roy, who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

I’ve personally experienced how deeply military service can affect not only the person who serves, but the family who loves them.

There are sacrifices that are easy to see. And then there are others that can ripple through a family for years—sometimes in ways people outside that family will never fully understand.

So while the Honor Run began because I wanted to honor Shelli and the incredible life of service she lived, somewhere along the way I realized this event gives me a place to honor them, too.

My dad.
Roy.
Shelli.

And so many other men and women whose service changed not only their lives, but the lives of the people who loved them.

That’s why this event is so personal to me.

On November 7, we’ll gather again in Brentwood, TN to run, walk and ruck. But underneath all of it is something much bigger than a race.

We remember. We honor. And we recognize that an entire family carries part of the sacrifice.

If military service is part of your family’s story too, I’d love to hear about your person. ❤️🇺🇸

And if you’d like to know how you can participate, volunteer, sponsor, or donate then find the link in my bio 🇺🇸

Today isn’t just about flags, cookouts, or a long weekend.

It’s about remembering the men and women who gave everything so we could live freely.

Some came home carrying memories.
Some came home carrying scars.
And some never came home at all.

Their sacrifice built freedoms many of us use every single day without even thinking about it.

Today, we pause.
We remember.
We honor.

Some gave some.
Some gave all.

I’m so thankful for the men and women who have fought to keep us free and protected — including the veterans in my own family — and for my dear friend Shelli, whose legacy we honor each year through the Veterans Day Honor Run. ❤️

We’re still raising money to support two incredible veterans organizations here in Tennessee that help with PTSD recovery, support single parents while their spouse is deployed, comfort children grieving the loss of a parent, and so much more.

The need is great — and every donation truly makes a difference. 💙

👉 Donate at the link in bio and help us cross the finish line for our heroes!

On this Veterans Day 🇺🇸, my heart is full of gratitude.

Not only for the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our country — but also for the incredible team that helps me honor them through the Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run each year. ❤️💙

✨ Tammy – my right hand all year long.
✨ Amy, Brenda, Gina, Nancy, and Dee – my race day rockstars who handle setup and tear down with so much heart.
✨ Rhonda – thank you for jumping in to help with registration this year and keeping things running smoothly!

It takes a village, and I’m beyond thankful for mine. Shelli would be so proud of the way we come together to serve, remember, and give back. 🇺🇸

Saturday was truly something special.
The 6th Annual Shelli Huether Veterans Day Honor Run, Walk & Ruck was filled with joy, grit, community, and so much heart. ❤️💙

When the National Anthem played before the start, I about lost it. Standing there, surrounded by runners, ruckers, walkers, volunteers, veterans, and families — I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I was so honored to create an event that not only celebrates our incredible country but honors the men and women who serve it. 🇺🇸

And I couldn’t stop thinking about Shelli.
She would be so proud to see the legacy she’s leaving — an event that unites people, inspires purpose, and gives back to those who sacrifice so much for our freedom. 🕊️

Every single person out there — from the fastest finisher to the last to cross — made this day unforgettable. ❤️

To everyone who ran, rucked, walked, donated, volunteered, sponsored, or simply showed up — thank you. You are part of something meaningful, something that matters, and something that truly honors our heroes.

💙 We’re still working to cross one last finish line — our fundraising goal! 💙
If you haven’t yet, please consider making a donation to help us reach (and surpass!) last year’s total. Every dollar helps support veterans, active military, and their families right here in Tennessee. 🇺🇸

You can donate at veteransdayhonorrun.com (link in bio) — together, let’s finish strong for those who’ve given so much for us. 🙏

Check out this year’s shirts!! We still have some left, and I’d love to get them into the hands of people who want to help us keep supporting veterans, active military, and their families here in Tennessee. ❤️💙

They’re just $7 each (plus shipping) — and every dollar goes directly toward our veteran support organizations.

These shirts aren’t just for runners — they’re perfect for the gym, yard work, lake days, hikes, volunteering, or even just showing your patriotic pride around town. Every time you wear it, you’re helping us honor and remember those who’ve served. 🙏

I’d love for these to keep showing up in our community and beyond — reminding people what this day, and this cause, is all about.
