Kurhotel Skodsborg’s popular annual Nordisk Retreat returns in February 2027. The Nordisk Witherwill Retreat will be hosted by psychotherapist and bestselling author @juliasamuelmbe; a welcome antidote to the pressures of modern life and the relentless pursuit of self-optimisation.

Consider this an invitation to do less, connect more and find a little pocket of joy in the depths of winter. @adgefrin launches a new partnership with @thebiscuitfactorygallery Through a series of exhibitions, conversations and gatherings, this new collaboration will bring contemporary art and culture into dialogue with tradition, heritage and a strong connection to place. First up, the Modern Classics exhibition: opening at Ad Gefrin on Friday 23rd October. Exploring light and atmosphere, the everyday and the elemental, it features contemporary works rooted in traditional techniques by Paula Dunn, Angelo Murphy and Garry Courtnell.

@adgefrin marks its third anniversary with a major milestone—winning Small Visitor Attraction of the Year at the 2026 North East Tourism Awards and being a finalist in Visit England's national tourism awards.

To celebrate, the Anglo-Saxon Museum and Whisky Distillery hosted its inaugural Tácnbora Awards, recognising individuals and community groups across the North East who champion connection, kindness and community spirit.
