3️⃣0️⃣ years ago today @alishasatticofficial released their debut single: I Am, I Feel.

✌️ At a time when girl power was taking over planet pop thanks to @spicegirls (and, of course, @weareshampoo), @kazpoole and @shellymcerlaine were the kooky cousins of the family — just as at home in Smash Hits and on Top Of The Pops, but with an indie tinge to their sound and their look. They walked the fine line of being genuine popstars but being really cool and a little illusive.

💿 Their debut album, Alisha Rules The World, followed in November ‘96, produced by @davestewarteurythmics and featuring an additional three stunning singles (the title track, Indestructible and Air We Breathe) as part of a stellar album that we went track by track through for the 25th anniversary. So it’s probably time we gave Illumina its own episode soon, right?

✍️ Anyone who’s listened to the podcast will know that both sisters have gone on to be hugely successful songwriters, writing for Kylie, Dannii, Janet, Sugababes, Boyzone and SO many more.

💻 What are your memories of Alisha’s Attic? Did you join our lockdown Tweet-a-long with Karen and Shelly sharing their memories of the debut album?
