I don’t know how one person can have so much to say and yet be at a total loss for words at the very same time…..and yet, here I am.

You shock me.

You shock me in the way that you show up- as a friend, as an employee….as a human.

You shock me in the way that you don’t just say it, you live out the very idea that every single human life matters. You show it in the way you listen and ask questions. You show it in the way you ooze empathy. You show it in the way that you make others feel loved, known and cherished. I know that I am loved, known and cherished…..you have much to do with that.

You shock me in the way that you so freely express yourself when you are happy, when you are so joyful you can’t contain yourself and when you are in pain or at a loss and need someone to reach out their arms and hug you. I love being a witness to your life.

You shock me in the way you struggle. The way you sometimes come to work in immense pain and still you breathe in, breathe out, put one foot in front of the other and keep the hell going. I learn from you almost daily.

You shock me in the way you see the world and in the way you unapologetically talk about the way the world ought to be. Oh that we would one day live in the kind of world that you believe we all ought to live in.

So here’s to you. Here’s to another year of shocking all of those around you and here’s to another year of shocking the world.

My aunt Jimmie went to go live with God last Monday. Jimmie was an incredible woman. She had amazing style, funny as heck, loved her family fiercely, loved the Lord even more fiercely and taught us all to be unapologetically whole heartedly ourselves. Y’all……COME’ERE.

I’ve seen Macbeth on stage once before. Disappointing was an understatement. I was excited to see this one….but also nervous.

It was more than I could have ever imagined, expected and dreamed of. This cast is literally one of the greatest casts in any play I’ve ever seen on a stage. It was more emotional than I expected, it was more hilarious than I expected…..it all was just more than I expected. And of course Brian and I could not of been more proud of our dear Jared and Isabel who left their hearts, souls, energy and all the other things on the floor. It was…..oh what a privilege to be a witness. Somebody get whoever cast this group a Tony award please. If you have the time please go see this extraordinary production at the Core theatre in Richardson. @classicstheatre

To say this moment is a long time coming is an absolute understatement. You have deserved this moment for so long. Charlie would be so enormously proud of you. Brian and I are enormously proud of you. Congrats to the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. You are loved beyond words.
