No gym, no excuses. Push-ups hit big muscle groups fast, which means your body pulls in more blood sugar to fuel them, no extra insulin required.

That’s not just a chest and arm move, that’s a metabolic health tool you already have access to right now, wherever you are. I do these on the days I don’t feel like training hard, because something is always better than nothing.

Drop and give me ten today.

If you want a full plan built around moves like this, comment COACHING and I’ll reach out. by @shepherdfit

Your body is a temple, not a landfill. For years I treated mine like one anyway, whatever was fast, whatever was easy, whatever numbed the stress for a minute.

Then my numbers came back and reality hit. I had one body, and I was the only one responsible for what I put in it and what I did with it. Same goes for you.

You don’t need a perfect plan today, you need one decision. Eat something real. Move for twenty minutes. Treat what God gave you like it actually matters, because it does. If you’re ready to stop coasting and start rebuilding, comment TEMPLE and I’ll send you the first step. by @shepherdfit

I stopped training my abs to look good. I started training them because that midsection is directly tied to my A1C.

Visceral fat — the fat sitting around your organs, right there in your midsection — is metabolically active. It’s not just sitting there. It’s actively messing with your insulin sensitivity, your blood sugar, even your sleep. So every plank, every core set, every rep isn’t vanity work anymore. It’s blood-sugar work.

At 54, I’m not chasing a six-pack for Instagram. I’m chasing a healthier pancreas, better sleep, and a body that isn’t working against me. Turns out those two goals — looking strong and being metabolically healthy — were never actually separate.

Train your core like your numbers depend on it. Because they do.

Let’s talk about something nobody wants to talk about — your bowels. 💩

Daily elimination isn’t just comfort, it’s detox. Your body uses your bowels to clear out toxins, excess hormones, and waste your liver already processed. When that backs up, it doesn’t just sit there quietly — it gets reabsorbed. That’s bloating, brain fog, skin issues, and yes, it can even affect your blood sugar and A1C over time.

Whole foods, fiber, water, and movement keep things running the way God designed your body to run. It’s not glamorous, but it’s foundational.

If you’re eating clean and still not going daily, don’t ignore it — that’s your body waving a flag.

Comment “GUT” below and I’ll send you what actually helped me fix this. 👇

Happy 8-year anniversary, Sweetie! 💍

I hope you’re enjoying your Ultimate Driving Machine. You deserve every mile.

Eight years of marriage, and I won’t pretend it’s been perfect. We’ve had our ups and downs like every couple. But here’s what I’ve learned: when God is the Head and the CEO of your marriage, He pulls you through every valley and every season.

To every married couple out there: don’t quit in the hard seasons. Invite God into the driver’s seat, and He’ll take you further than you ever could on your own.

“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12)

Here’s to many more years with Christ at the center. 🙏❤️

You can pay now, or you pay more later. That’s not a threat — it’s biology.

Every skipped workout, every rushed meal, every “I’ll start Monday” is a bill quietly running up in the background. Your body keeps the receipts.

This is “Pay Now or Pay Later” — a Shepherd Fit anthem about investing in the body God gave you before the cost comes due. Strength training, whole foods, and the discipline to do it today instead of regretting it later.

Your future self is watching what you do right now. Make it worth it. 🙏💪

Nobody explained A1C to you like this before.

Picture your blood cells like little sponges. Extra sugar in your blood sticks to them like a coating. Those cells live about 3 months — so your A1C test is just measuring how “sugar-coated” they’ve gotten on average.

That’s why one bad meal doesn’t wreck it, and one good day doesn’t fix it. It’s a 90-day report card, not a daily grade.

Stop chasing today. Start stacking the next 90 days.

Comment A1C and I’ll send you the exact protocol I used at 54.

I climbed a lot of stairs to get to this view. 🪜

No shortcuts, no elevator, no easy way around it — just one step after another until I got there. That’s the whole lesson right there. Every flight felt like nothing at the time and everything when I looked back down.

Your health is the same climb. It’s not one big leap — it’s the stairs you keep taking when nobody’s watching.

Keep climbing. The view is worth it. 🙏 by @shepherdfit

Your muscles are the cure. 💪

Here’s what nobody tells you: every time you lift, your muscles pull glucose straight out of your bloodstream to use as fuel — no extra insulin required. More muscle means more storage space for that sugar, so it’s not sitting in your blood spiking your numbers.

That’s not a supplement. That’s not a trend. That’s just how the body works when you put it to work.

I’m 54, lifting 2-3x a week without exception, and watching my A1C move because of it — not despite my age, but because I finally understood what strength training was actually doing for me.

Walk 5+ days a week, 30 minutes. You’ll feel the blood sugar effect same-day, but the real A1C shift takes 8-12 weeks of consistency.

That gap right there is where most people quit. They walk for a week, don’t see the number move, and decide it isn’t working.

But A1C is not a same-day report. It is a 3-month average, so it was never going to move on your timeline. It moves on its own.

Your job is not to force the number down faster. Your job is to keep showing up on the days the results aren’t visible yet, because those are the days that are actually building the result.

I know this because I almost quit in that exact gap. Consistency is what got me through it, not intensity.

Are you willing to keep walking through the 8 weeks where the scale and the mirror don’t show it yet? by @shepherdfit

Push-ups don’t get enough credit for what they do to your blood sugar.

They recruit chest, shoulders, triceps and core all at once, and that muscle activity pulls glucose out of your bloodstream right then, no extra insulin needed for that part.

Do them regularly and you’re building lean muscle, which means more storage space for glucose so there’s less of it floating around in your blood in the first place.

Over time, that same training makes your body more insulin sensitive, so it takes less insulin to move the same amount of sugar.

And here’s the part I actually use: 10-20 push-ups after a meal will blunt that post-meal spike, close to what a walk does.

No gym. No equipment. No excuse. That’s exactly why this one sticks when other stuff doesn’t, and sticking with it is what actually moves your A1C.

Try it after your next meal and tell me how it feels. by @shepherdfit
