Well it's that time of year when people start asking what our winter plans are for the Abergavenny shop and things will be a little different this year so...

Our last opening day is October the 31st and then we will close as usual for November.

Sadly we won't be doing any Christmas cakes this year - many of you have noticed that our cake maker extraordinair Lowri has sadly moved on to pastures new - we wish her all the luck in the world with her next steps and already miss her. On top of this I (Connie) am expecting a baby at the beginning of December so these two things combined mean we really don't have the capacity for cakes this year - we fully intend to bring them back next year though!

So what will Christmas at the ice cream shop look like this year? Well - we're still working that out but hopefully, we'll be open for weekends in December plus a couple of extra days in the run up to Christmas - watch this space.

Thank you all for a fantastic summer, we've been run off our feet and don't take that for granted. We feel very lucky to be a part of the Abergavenny community - your local ice cream parlour. Next spring we aim to come back with more ice cream, more new flavours and hopefully slightly longer opening hours too.

Damsons
It has been a bumper crop of this year and our two little trees have given us kilos and kilos of lovely plum damsons. So time to process.

We freeze the damsons then defrost them to loosen the fruit. then they go through our amazing de-stoneing machine to produce the most beautiful purple pulp. This is then pasteurised with some extra sugar and voila! Ready for ice cream - next job, slow gin! by @shepherdsicecream

What a beautiful food festival weekend. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did and thank you for stopping by.

The sun is still out but it's time for us to switch to autumn hours so we will once again be closed on Mondays and Thursdays and we'll keep going until the end of October. We can eek a bit more out of this summer yet! taken in Shepherds Ice Cream by @shepherdsicecream

Make sheep's milk cream cheese with me - this will be going into our festival special for @afoodfestival, lemon cheesecake!

Because sheep's milk is so rich this makes extra thick cream cheese but you can easily do it with cows milk too. taken in Shepherds Ice Cream by @shepherdsicecream

Wow what a summer! Thank you to everyone who has visited and loved our ice cream, and also for your patience when we haven't always had all of your favourites in stock. We have had the most brilliant team working away to keep the ice cream flowing during record heatwaves and difficulties with both water and milk supplies - we've felt very lucky to work with such a fantastic bunch.

But all of a sudden it's the bank holiday and back to school week (are you crawling to the finish line or sad it's nearly over?). We have one more week before we drop our opening hours back to 5pm on Sunday and though we have been oh so grateful for this rain, maybe we can eke out a few more days of summer? 🙏🤞🙏. taken in Shepherds Ice Cream by @shepherdsicecream

Back in Utopia @shambalafest (ad) we are back in our fave place! And It took him approximately 0.3 seconds to slip back into festival mode. @shepherdsicecream Ice cream all over his face, dancing his way through the festival and zero concern for what time he’s going to bed 😂

Chocolate covered strawberries!
Well it has taken us a little while to get around to this but you can now get fresh strawberries covered in chocolate straight from the tap.

We'll be offering them Fridays / Saturdays / Sundays until we run out.

Fresh strawberries from Steve and June in the market and 55% dark Belcolade chocolate.

Missing this ice cream? Add a scoop of ice cream to make a mini sundae.
