It was a honor to serve on the host committee of Untitled Art Houston this year. With so many forms of art exhibited, I needed to create a Part II highlight reel. 😍😎😍#

Remembering September 11, 2001

The sacrifice of the fallen, the victims and their families.
The courage of the responders and volunteers.
The kindness of strangers.

On this day, 63 years ago, my father proudly took part in the historic March on Washington.
Although time has taken a toll, I treasure this portion of his sign - and more importantly, this message of unity.

“She spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched.”

“Her unmatched generosity reached the lives of countless people whom she would never meet, yet she was always there to offer a helping hand. Dolly’s unconditional love for all people was the guiding force for her lasting impact.”

They say, “better late than never”, so I hope they’re right….

Today is the last day to view “Nic Nicosia: Everyday Surreal” at the Nasher Sculpture Center. It is a survey of the last 25 years of the artist’s five-decade career that reveals the material and conceptual evolution of one of Dallas’ most important living artists.

The exhibition features over 70 three-dimensional works, drawings, photographs, and films made since his mid-career survey in 1999–2000. I particularly liked the figurative sculptures that seem to look at you as you look at them.

A pioneering force in American assemblage and a leading voice of the Black Arts Movement, Betye Saar (1926-2026) transformed found objects into deeply resonant works that explored history, memory, spirituality, identity, and the Black experience. Through her fearless reclamation of racist imagery and her deeply personal visual language, she transformed painful histories into powerful expressions of resilience, dignity, and liberation, fundamentally reshaping the course of contemporary American art.

Betye Saar leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that will continue to challenge, inspire, and shape contemporary art for generations to come.
