SOLD | “Heavy Lies the Head” 🔴
@nkamwesiga_

FRAMED Season IV continues to move — and this one carries a story.

Conrad Desire Nkamwesiga was born and raised in Uganda, East Africa — a first-born son who inherited what he calls “the unspoken role of deputy parent.” That weight lives in this work: a graphite and metallic paint study of braided hair, crown and burden at once. Now it has found its collector.

Conrad earned his BFA at Uganda Christian University and is currently pursuing his MFA at the University of Texas at Arlington. His practice is rooted in faith and the philosophy of Ubuntu — “I am because we are.” In his words, his art is not rebellion; it is worship.

Let me say this plainly: there is immense value in acquiring works from art students. You are collecting at the very beginning of a career — before the institutions, before the fairs, before the market catches up to the talent. Supporting young artists like Conrad isn’t just an acquisition. It’s an affirmation that his voice matters now.

His Rose of Sharon — a radiant 48 x 48 acrylic and oil on canvas — remains on view through October 31.

Throwing it back to last year’s Vernissage Champagne Brunch, hosted by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago’s Women’s Board, which kicked off EXPO CHICAGO Contemporary Art Fair 2025 at Navy Pier’s Festival Hall. Guests enjoyed a lavish brunch and first access to EXPO CHICAGO.

Proceeds from this event raised funds in support of the MCA’s Learning programs, which offers opportunities for Chicago youth to explore, discuss, and reflect on the MCA’s exhibitions and programs.

2016 ✨(Part 1)
Season 15 of @projectrunway leading makeup, on camera every episode, collaborating with designers, working on celebrity guest judges, and running a makeup team that sometimes grew to over 50 artists.
I spent my birthday on set. I laughed nonstop. I learned fast. I grew even faster.
So many of these moments still make me smile.
This wasn’t just a job. It was a turning point.
Forever grateful for this era. ✨ #LuisCasco #luiscascomakeup

Thank you to everyone who made it out to my Grit solo exhibition opening! And thank you to everyone who has been spreading the word. @Jes_Jess thank you for completing the experience with your music. Thank you to all the women who posed for these paintings. I'm grateful to have this art on view at @pencilonpapergallery. The show runs through March 5th.

It was great meeting artist Jaden McCreary who debuted her new work with @valeriegillespiecontemporary residency!
