💙It’s been very special to work alongside @russelltovey and director Neil Bartlett on a series dedicated to Derek Jarman’s seminal film “Blue”. This series on @wepresent features a film, directed by @dionce_knowledge, in which Neil and Russell discuss the lasting impact of Derek Jarman, as well as 6 moving essays by @simonfisherturner, @travisalabanza, @jtaylortrash, @cmmn_stance, Russell Tovey and Neil Bartlett, all investigating universal themes from “Blue”. Accompanied by wonderful animations by @jemaynn @aliceaaires. Dive in on WePresent. 💙 by @shetromp
Presenting BLUE NOW: a very special performance of Derek Jarman’s 1993 film Blue, commissioned by @wepresent by @wetransfer, directed by Neil Bartlett. Completed in May 1993, a few months before his death, BLUE is Jarman’s final film. For 74 minutes, an unchanging screen of celestial blue is accompanied by voices which deliver a collage of fragments from his diary, describing the gradual onset of blindness as he battles with HIV. A cast of four artists including Russell Tovey (@russelltovey), writer and theatre-maker Travis Alabanza (@travisalabanza), artist Jay Bernard (@cmmn_stance), and award-winning poet Joelle Taylor (@jtaylortrash) will deliver Jarman’s powerful words. With a new live score by the film’s original composer, Simon Fisher Turner (@simonfisherturner). Produced in association with Fuel (@fueltheatre) and Basilisk Communications. @danielleboelling @hollymercedes27 @marikals @lumir_sp @abbiejrobinson @annematt_ruseler @leonorachance by @shetromp

Really happy to finally share this very special film by brilliant artist Alex Prager @alexprager we’ve been working on for about a year now! “What are you afraid of?” Alex’s new film, Run, deals with our response to the things that scare us in the uncertain world we live in. Run is supported by @wepresent and exclusively on our site until January 3 so go watch it while you can A massive thanks to @lisaziven @arigov @hollymercedez27 @faye.quinn14 @lumir_sp @the_golden_gurlz_ by @shetromp
Thrilled to share @micaiahcarter’s gorgeous new project Optimism on @wepresent today In “Optimism”, a photo collaboration with WePresent, photographer Micaiah Carter bridges the past and future with emotive and intimate images of Black men, women and families. Tinted with nostalgia and personal memory, the series celebrates and preserves a facet of the Black experience that is often overlooked—a theme, writer @sdirshe discovers, is at the heart of Micaiah’s personal work. Thanks so much @jessekahn1 @lucyvpike @hollymercedes27 @faye.quinn14 by @shetromp

Back home from the most surreal and amazing weeks ever working for @wepresent!! I still can’t believe that last week we got to finally meet Marina Abramovic in person after having worked on our three-part collaboration for over 18 months. At the Truman Brewery in London we presented Marina’s time capsule, called Traces, in which she selected five treasures she wants to preserve for future generations. We had the honour to showcase two of her own works there too: Crystal Cinema, and 10,000 stars. In conversation with Tim Marlow, she spoke on stage about her life, her work and all things important to her. I’m forever grateful to Danielle for working alongside me to get this year-long collaboration off the ground and dreaming big. A massive thanks to Adam Reed from The Blair Partnership for trusting us with Marina’s work and legacy, to Holly for supporting and championing us, to Linda & Ciara for organising this amazing event together with the ladies from Family, to Leonora and Purple to share this collaboration with the world, to our studio team, Lumir, Marika, Johnny, Stevijn, Daniel, Diana and Robyn for all their designs, tech and words. Because YES we also published the time capsule digitally (link in bio!). 📸📸@ejatushaw by @shetromp
