Early on April 21st, my uncle and parents lost their home to a fire. This was a house that stood on our land, part of Muscogee (Creek) Nation in Oklahoma, for over 100 years.

Built by my great-grandfather, it was the center of what we lovingly refer to as our “family compound” and a gathering place across generations. We are grateful everyone survived, but 3 seniors have been displaced and recovery and rebuilding will be a long road. We’ve launched a fundraiser to help us begin that process.

I’ll be sharing updates here and on the zeffy as rebuilding comes along and as we continue to uncover memories from the ashes. It’s been remarkable to see what fragile objects miraculously survived, and in many instances, finding some amazing pieces of family history that I didn’t even know to look for.

If you’re able to support, share, or connect us with resources, it would mean a great deal.

The QR code in the first image will take you to the fundraiser. The link is in my bio as well.
