Solidarity Collage - Gina (they/she) of Solidarity Collages is an organizer and fiber artist who makes political & abolitionist collages and artwork out of recycled materials to instill hope & abolitionist visions to anyone who sees them. The Spring Yet Another Queer Pop-Up Market is at a new location in Florence this year! Join us on Saturday, May 23 from 12P-6P at the Garden House at Look Park. FREE PARKING!

This third annual market centers 70+ 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC creatives. Ginger Love Cafe and SIP 413 with Lemon Bakery goodies will be among several vendors keeping you well-nourished. Queer Joy Chorus, art activities with Resilient Community Arts, Nail Designs from Nails by Mal, and LIVE drawings by Art Skips a Beat will round out your day. Join us in community and in solidarity for spaces where we can all THRIVE AND FLOURISH!

Accessibility includes: KN95 or better MASKS REQUIRED INDOORS and highly encouraged outdoors as an ongoing means of radical community care. If masking is impossible due to health needs, please test for COVID-19 beforehand. Gender-neutral indoor bathrooms are wheelchair-accessible, and market aisles will be a minimum of three feet. finally managed to finish an illustration for a concept i've been iterating on for actual years (there are physical versions of some of these! you'll get to see them later) - this will be a 5x7 print & also a sticker sheet available at some upcoming local markets & eventually in my online shop (??/2026).

i'm behind on where i wanted to be this year in terms of making things & restocking, but also i lost about a month to recovery from a very unexpected surgery (RIP my gallbladder, but i'm fine) so i'm trying to be nicer to myself about it ♥ here's to getting back into the swing of making stuff

I want to take a moment to gush about my collaborator - it was such an incredible gift to partner on this project with @sheydgarden. Their art adds so much depth, dimension, and heart to the words on the page. It was wild to receive each new batch of images they created, and go see which reflections they went with - to learn what my words sparked for them, what secret layers they were finding and drawing forward. Truly a version of communion and collaboration I haven’t experienced before. It made this project into something more beautiful and evocative than I could have even imagined, let alone created without them.

And they gave hours of their time and their incredible talent to this zine all for free - so that 100% of the funds can go to Mohammed and family. Thank you Ezra, I am beyond grateful.

Mohammed has shared a little about how much worse things have gotten in Gaza since the beginning of the war with Iran - border closed again, more bombings, supplies and food scarcer. In some ways it feels so strange to keep sharing about this zine as this violence escalates, but I am grateful for it as one small way I can be part of extending care to people impacted. by @sheydgarden

In the Spring of 2024 I was heartbroken and struggling to keep going. I was experiencing deep loss in my personal life as the genocide in Gaza raged on and on. I was falling apart and didn’t know what to do. In this space, the count of the Omer held me. Counting the Omer is a mystical Jewish practice that begins the second night of Passover and lasts 49 days. Every night I showed up to the Sefirot (aspects of divinity in the world) and let them hold me in my heartbreak, my rage, my despair. Some nights they offered solace, some insight, sometimes merely the possibility that something else existed, even if I didn’t see it that night.

When the Omer count began Spring 2025, I was messaging most days with Mohammed, a young man fighting to survive and support his family in Gaza. At 18 months into the genocide I saw how exhausted he was, and how he kept going anyway. I found ways to keep showing up that I could not have done without him, even as it kept breaking my heart. Through all this too, the count of the Omer held me. It showed me that while some justified the genocide in the name of Jewish safety, the Jewish practice I know is one calling for the liberation of all peoples and all beings.

Now it is Spring of 2026. War is escalating with more people killed every day, and my neighbors are being abducted by men in vests and govt vehicles, while we scramble to respond. The situation in Gaza is still devastating, and the rise of fascism in the US means that many people who have been showing up for Gaza are stretched so thin. Mohammed says new donations have dropped 95% because people think the need is over.

I believe that counting the Omer can hold us through these times too, in our rage, grief, joy, despair, determination. I am going to count this year to help me be with the wild complexity of being alive and showing up. If it sounds interesting or supportive to you, I would love to share it with you.

I believe that the practice of Counting the Omer offers profound gifts for helping us show up in these times on earth, and I’m so grateful to finally be able to share it in this way! This 49 day mystical Jewish practice begins the second night of Passover, and has held me through so much. I wrote these reflections over the last 2 Springs through heartbreak, rage, grief, joy, and gratitude, and commitment. This guide includes an introduction to how to count the Omer, the blessings and count in English and transliterated Hebrew, and reflections for each day connecting with its teachings and themes.

All funds raised will go directly to Mohammed and his family in Gaza for their continued survival - I am grateful and hopeful to breathe some new life into this fundraising effort.

there's a first time for everything, & i spent this January making my first ever marionette for the @forbeszineclub Winter Exquisite puppet show (come see it on the 7th along with the zine fest!) ❄

for the theme, i designed a monster (the Winter Maw) that blends my appreciation of this season's beauty with a more sinister, predatory element representing struggles against seasonal depression. bringing her to life was a huge learning experience, i got to try out a lot of new materials & techniques - big shout out to @swansonsstashhouse for ALL of the fabrics used in her body & costume, including lots of gorgeous vintage lace. the stash house is a treasure trove!

i'll be demonstrating the puppet (i think i'm most proud of her working jaw) at the Puppet Pageant on the 28th - until then you can visit her & all her new friends in the Forbes reading room.
