My new favourite author @whatifnovels has outdone himself.

'The Severing Cycle' is a Dark Fantasy series comprising 3 Trilogies, and its utterly addictive. For someone who's never been interested in this genre before, I'm hooked.

✨️Trilogy 1 - The Deepgift Rise✨️

Book one - Hollowed in Exile
We meet our main character Veyra, and are introduced to the world in which we are about to become immersed. We observe, we listen, we learn... and Veyra develops an unnerving gift during her quest for survival below the Drop.

Book two - The Rivenwild Revealed
Veyra comes into her own, and the reader becomes a part of the community of exiles, learning the way of the world beneath the Drop, until a party from the Gifted Lands intrudes.... and an unexplained death is discovered...

Book three - The Severing of the Veil
Intruders and unwelcome guests, secrets, and shifts in power and control...
All is not as it seems, and the perfect illusion of life in the Gifted Lands is under threat... from within.

Steven Marks is an incredibly talented author with a gift for story telling. I highly reccommend checking out The Severing Cycle series, and his other incredible works spanning multiple genres.

An emotional roller-coaster! I'm still recovering...

Book 4 of the DI Ryan Hale series has me gasping, swearing, laughing out loud, crying, and staring open mouthed into space in sheer disbelief.

Extremely cleverly put together, bringing both mystery, and clarity, to a case that has hung over Ryan's head since we first met him.... will it finally be solved, or is someone toying with him?

The 2025 @singlefilewine Small Batch Arneis is a dry, fuller bodies white wine with elegant and complex notes of crunchy, just ripe pear, white nectarine, and lemon pith.

With a rich, golden hue, it delivers apricot flavours, with hints of nut, and subtle florals.

Its going to love a rich seafood dish, but tonight I'm cooking up a classic French chicken chasseur, with creamy potato and cauliflower mash - an equally wonderful accompaniment.

The colour of wild mulberries, the @ls.merchants 2025 Tempranillo delivers abundant, juicy, fruit flavours to match, with black olive, and a little blackcurrant.
It delivers smooth, lifted tannins, with subtle aromas of violet and sensual florals.

Its the perfect pairing for paella apparently, though I would go for a grilled octopus and chorizo 🤤 but I'm just cooking some thick cut Porterhouse steaks tonight.

I'm not the hugest fan of Chenin Blanc, but I'm giving the 2025 bottle by @ls.merchants a whirl...

A blend of about 90% estate grapes from the cellar door vineyard vs 10% Swan Valley grapes, I'm actually rethinking my life choices....

Juicy yellow stonefruit with tangy Meyer lemon and subtle spice, notes of wet granite and sea breeze, with a hint of chalkiness - a sign of aging potential 👌🏽

Tonight's perfect pairing is Greek style lemon and herb chicken, with warm potato salad. Other great matches include robust summery salads, and due to its natural acidity, fresh seafood, or lightly spicy asian noodles.

From @rockyridgebrewing comes this Fermented Barley Wine named 'Dear Dickheads' - it would seem there is a tale behind this brew of which the details remain largely unknown... 🤔

Toffee, molasses, toasted cereal, and gently spiced fruit make for a cockle warming 9.5% brew 🥴

Enjoy responsibly whilst watching Brisbane smash the Crows, and the Sharks and my Cowboys battle it out 🏉

Pair with chicken wings, chippies with herbed salt, or beef jerky.

Wine for football from @ls.merchants 🏉

The Hoi Polloi Red is a lovable blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot, with a jizz of Shiraz - and I am here for it!

100% tank fermented brining the uicy dark berries and summery plums, spice and plush tannins with notes of cocoa and cinnamon.

Its the perfect pairing for dude food. Think tacos, burgers, pizza, bbq, ribbies and chicken wings 🤤

11 years since lifesaving lung surgery...

August and September always hits my mental health pretty hard as it can be difficult to focus on the positives when I feel like there's so much I missed out on.

As always, grateful to be here, but disappointed that it seems many others take the gift of life for granted and continue to be shit humans. by @shoey_k

Spring is finally springing 🤩

A lovely warm arvo, topped off by a bench PB and a landmine press PB deserves a glass or two of @ls.merchants 2025 CHILLED AF Red 🤤

A fresh and lively blend of Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Sangiovese, and Chenin, its utterly delightful and gives all the summery vibes ☀️

Tangy raspberry, juicy cranberry, home made lemonade, and redskins 😝 Have this bottle sitting in the wine fridge, ready to whip out when you're serving up roast chicken, Mediterranean food, or a plump pastrami sammich 😋
