The move to Bay View marks an exciting new chapter for our company, placing the studio in a vibrant, walkable neighborhood known for its strong support of independent businesses and artisan retailers.

We have experienced steady growth over the last 10 years, supported by a loyal local customer base and an expanding online presence. The new Bay View location will further support our focus on custom and fine jewlry and will serve as a destination for customers seeking unique, handcrafted designs.

The grand opening is set for Friday May 1st and will welcome customers and members of the Bay View community to explore the new studio and experience CIVAL’s services firsthand. Our opening celebration will begin at 7:00pm, and regular operation hours start the next day.

After what feels like a never ending buildout, a lot of moving pieces, way more learning than expected, and a hell of a lot of fun despite everything, our new Bay View space is finally taking shape.

There, still so much more to do, but this part feels worth pausing for. Our sign is fully installed and it’s feeling very official!

I’ve been easing into this year, excited for what’s ahead, but before moving forward, I wanted to pause and look back at what we’ve accomplished this past year.

Here’s a glimpse of just a few of our favorite custom pieces from 2025 — and there are still so many more custom designs that never even made it to the feed. Every one of these projects represents trust, collaboration, and a story someone chose to share with us.

Last year was difficult in many ways, but I’m deeply grateful to every client who supported my work and kept me busy through it all. Being invited into meaningful moments — engagements, anniversaries, reinventions, and quiet personal milestones — is something I I will always be so thankful to be apart of. It’s truly an honor to help bring these visions to life and I’m honored to have been your choice.

Here’s to another year of creating, exploring, and celebrating the moments that matter.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a proper introduction...

Hello, I’m Rae, the founder and designer behind Cival. I don’t come from money. I don’t have a trust fund or a family business waiting for me — just a frankly unreasonable amount of hard work, unwavering trust in myself, some very big dreams, and a never-ending creative consciousness.

I started this business in 2013, after losing my job and taking a big bet on myself. I had been planning my business for a while, and I was all in. I had an 18-month-old son, a hell of a work ethic, and a sprinkle of delusion — and I’ve been working 12-hour days ever since.

I’ve learned jewelry design, gemology, web development, marketing, CAD, production, photography, retail, construction — and quite a few things I never intended to become qualified in.

What began as one person making jewelry for markets in a hallway — with a dream of creating better things by hand — has taken many forms over the years, and I couldn’t be more proud of how far we’ve come: building a beautiful Milwaukee studio and showroom, and growing a team devoted to creating pieces that carry special meaning, has been incredibly challenging but also feels like my life’s purpose.

If you’ve visited our new location, you’ve probably met our manager Killian!

Killian has been an important part of the Cival team, spending her days helping couples find the pieces that feel like them and guiding them through such an important part of their story. So getting to create a ring for her own love story felt especially meaningful.

Killian’s ring is vintage-inspired, with timeless details and a romantic feel that perfectly reflect her style. We loved the design so much we have added it to our house signatures.

Getting to be a part of so many of our couples’ stories is one of the best parts of what we do, so getting to celebrate one of our own makes this one feel a little extra special.

And, of course, Violet had to give the ring her official approval. We’re happy to report she said yes, too!

Designing both engagement rings as surprise for both partners is my new favorite way for couples to propose to one another — and we managed to create the most perfect design for both.

Karlie and Olivia are that couple that just radiate love for each other in an authentic way that we all deserve — and aspire to find one day. Their pieces are a reflection of how deeply they love and understand each other, and i couldn’t be more excited to share their proposals and designs.

I feel so lucky to have been a small part of their story and that in a very small way we will always be a part of their expression of love in each of their proposal moments.
