Partnerships like these are what make transformational projects possible.

A huge thank you to the @marylandhousing for believing in the vision of Shore Walls and helping bring Salisbury’s first mural festival to life. Their support helped create an opportunity for artists, businesses, residents, and visitors to come together through the power of public art.

I also want to give a special shoutout to Han Cechini, MDHCD’s Digital Media Specialist and a fellow Salisbury local, for putting together this incredible video. Han came out, spent time documenting the festival, and did an amazing job capturing the energy, creativity, and community spirit that made Shore Walls so special.

As someone who poured his heart into bringing this festival to life, it means a lot to see the story told so thoughtfully. This video showcases far more than murals. It highlights the people, partnerships, and shared belief that public art can bring communities together and create lasting impact.

Thank you to Han, MDHCD, and everyone who played a role in making Shore Walls a reality. We’re incredibly grateful for your support and for helping preserve this moment in Salisbury’s history. taken in Salisbury, Maryland by @shorewalls

Something is happening in Salisbury.

A city is more than buildings. It’s stories. People. Energy.

This spring, the walls that have been quiet for decades will begin telling new stories.

Local artists and artists from across the country are coming here to paint large-scale murals across our city.
Not inside galleries. Not hidden away.
Right here in the streets.

For five days, you’ll be able to walk downtown and watch art come to life in real time.

Five new murals. Five days of artists at work.
A city becoming an outdoor gallery.

This is Shore Walls Salisbury’s first mural festival.

May 26–30, 2026

Public murals matter.

Not because they are trendy.
Not because they look good on social media.

They matter because they shape how a city feels.

Shore Walls was created to bring intentional, large scale public art to Salisbury in a way that is collaborative, thoughtful, and lasting.

This is about more than paint.
It is about identity.
It is about economic energy.
It is about giving our streets a visual heartbeat.

From May 26 to 30, 2026, five murals will rise across our city in five days.
Artists.
Businesses.
Volunteers.
Spectators.
Community members.

Some will paint.
Some will watch.
All are part of the story.

We are not decorating walls.
We are strengthening place.

This is Shore Walls. by @shorewalls

Shore Walls 2026 may have been brought to life by the artists, but behind every mural was an entire network of people working quietly to make it all possible.

There were people helping with months of pre-planning, coordinating logistics, preparing spaces, setting up, solving problems, supporting artists, welcoming visitors, giving tours, and stepping in wherever they were needed.

One person we especially want to recognize is Derek Jarmon with the City of Salisbury, Maryland. Derek played a major role throughout the entire process, from early planning and setup to providing daily support during the festival. He was constantly helping behind the scenes, connecting people, answering questions, and even giving visitors golf cart tours of the murals!

And Derek was one of many. City staff, volunteers, committee members, property owners, sponsors, community partners, artists, musicians, photographers, vendors, friends, and family all contributed in ways that the public may never fully see.

Shore Walls 2026 did not happen because of one person or organization. It happened because an entire community believed in it and helped carry it forward.

To everyone who gave their time, energy, resources, ideas, patience, and support, thank you. You helped make the first Shore Walls something truly special. ❤️🎨 taken in Salisbury, Maryland by @shorewalls

Basta brought something special to the first year of Shore Walls.

A Richmond-based artist with a style and energy all his own, he helped bring the WALS “GROW” mural to life and created a unique, graffiti-inspired Shore Walls piece that became one of the festival backdrops.

It was bold, fun, full of energy, and true to who he is as an artist. It showed up in photos, videos, and memories, helping give Shore Walls that raw, creative, street-level energy that made the festival feel alive.

That same piece now lives in a downtown Salisbury window, right on Main Street, as a lasting reminder of the creativity and collaboration that shaped year one.

He shows up. He contributes. He brings energy. He helps other artists. He pours into the moment, the community, and the people around him.

When people think back on the first year of Shore Walls, his name should be part of the story. Not just because of what he created, but because of how much he helped bring this festival to life.

Thank you for everything you gave to Shore Walls, to Salisbury, and to this first year. Your creativity, generosity, and presence helped make this festival what it was. taken in Salisbury, Maryland by @shorewalls

We’re grateful to the @marylandhousing for their support of Shore Walls.

As a wall sponsor, they helped make one of the festival murals possible. They also visited Downtown Salisbury during the festival to document the impact of the project and speak with our founder, Brandon Bell, about the vision behind Shore Walls.

This video captures a small piece of what the festival set out to do: bring public art, community pride, artist opportunity, tourism, and economic development together in a meaningful way.

A special thank you to Han Cechini, who filmed the video and led the interview with such care and intention.

Thank you to the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for supporting the work and helping share part of the Shore Walls story. by @shorewalls

The first Shore Walls began with a simple idea:

That public art has the power to transform communities.

Before a single mural was painted, there were sponsors who believed in that vision. They believed public art could create connection, inspire pride, activate spaces, and bring people together in meaningful ways.

Because of their support, Shore Walls became more than seven murals. It became community members picking up paintbrushes. Students learning from artists. Neighbors exploring downtown together. New conversations, new experiences, and new reasons to feel connected to Salisbury and the Eastern Shore.

To every sponsor, partner, and supporter who helped bring this inaugural festival to life: thank you.

You didn’t just invest in an event. You invested in a movement built around creativity, placemaking, community pride, and the belief that art belongs to everyone.

The murals will remain on these walls for years to come, but the impact you’ve helped create reaches far beyond the paint.

Thank you for believing in Shore Walls before it was proven, and for helping turn a vision into something real.

One of the most meaningful moments of Shore Walls happened away from the walls themselves.

Hosted at Roadie Joe’s in Downtown Salisbury with support from thebrand.sby, Shore Walls brought together participating muralists for an artist talk moderated by festival founder Brandon Bell.

The event gave community members a unique opportunity to sit down alongside the artists, enjoy a meal or drink, and hear directly from the people behind the murals. Guests listened as artists shared their creative processes, discussed the stories behind their work, and reflected on the experience of creating public art throughout Salisbury during the festival.

While the artists had spent days painting across Downtown Salisbury, many had only crossed paths briefly as they worked. This conversation created space for them to connect with one another while also opening the door for the public to ask questions, gain insight into the artistic process, and better understand the role public art can play in shaping a community.

The discussion highlighted something that often goes unseen during a festival: the relationships, ideas, and inspiration that develop behind the scenes. It was an opportunity to celebrate creativity, share knowledge, and strengthen the connection between artists and the community they were creating for.

The evening was filled with thoughtful conversation, laughter, and reflection, reminding us that while murals may be the most visible outcome of Shore Walls, the conversations they inspire are just as important.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Roadie Joe’s and helped make the evening such a memorable part of Shore Walls. taken in Salisbury, Maryland by @shorewalls

Next up is artist Olga DeShields, whose mural at Mogan’s Oyster House became one of the most meaningful projects of the entire Shore Walls Festival.

From the beginning, we knew Shore Walls needed a true community mural, a space where residents could do more than admire the artwork. We wanted them to help create it. Choosing the right artist for that responsibility mattered, and Olga proved to be the perfect fit.

Inspired by the oyster ecosystems that help sustain our waterways, Olga designed a mural that celebrates connection, balance, and the natural beauty of the Eastern Shore. Throughout the week, community members of all ages picked up brushes and worked alongside her, transforming the wall into a shared creative experience.

What makes this mural special is not just the final result, but the process behind it. Hundreds of hands helped bring it to life, creating a permanent reminder that public art has the power to connect people, strengthen communities, and foster a deeper sense of place.

A special thank you to the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, whose sponsorship helped make this community mural possible.

Thank you, Olga, for sharing your vision, welcoming others into the creative process, and helping us create a mural that truly belongs to Salisbury.

One of the most rewarding parts of Shore Walls 2026 was welcoming local students to Downtown Salisbury to experience public art firsthand.

Led by Brandon Bell, founder of We Are Limitless Studios, students toured the festival, learned the stories behind each mural, and discovered how art can transform neighborhoods, spark conversation, and strengthen communities.

The experience went beyond observation. Students also had the opportunity to paint alongside artist Olga DeShields and WALS staff on the community mural at Morgan’s Oyster House, leaving their own lasting mark on Downtown Salisbury. What began as a lesson in public art became a chance to actively contribute to it.

Through creativity, collaboration, and hands-on participation, these students experienced the power of placemaking and saw how art can shape the spaces we share.

Thank you to every student, educator, and volunteer who joined us. Your curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm are exactly why investing in the arts matters. taken in Salisbury, Maryland by @shorewalls
