“Who are you??” The question was asked not as an inquiry of my name, but out of astonishment in meeting another of my many sides. I am a multifaceted stone, a tree of many branches, a collage, a mosaic, a straddler of worlds.

Another friend joked at one of my events, “We don’t come for the event, we come for the updates of What in the World Shoshana is Doing Now.” It IS true that I’m mostly likely doing something new since we last met.

It dawned on me the last time someone was delightfully surprised, that there are people who only know me from one world & want to know more. Indeed, I have yet to perfect my “elevator pitch.” Even I forget to list everything.

Headings like multidisciplinary artist, multi-passionate, multipotentialite cover my bases. But what if there’s someone out there who needs what I offer & they don’t know it’s a service I’d love to give? Thus, I have been called to collect the tesserae of the mosaic that is me. I still might leave something out, but what’s most important, the creative essence, remains.

Here it goes 🌀
-I am a poet & writer: founder of Poets of Babel— a multilingual poetry community, spoken word poet & teacher, author of published works, creative writing workshop facilitator, writing coach/private teacher, & poetry editor.
-I am a dancer & performer: dance creator, teacher of the Orly Portal Method (1-on-1, birthdays, workshops), researcher of ritual & somatic movement.
-I am a teacher: of language, literature, writing, movement. Soon, writing + movement workshops; I dance & I dance with words.
-I am a street performer: live statue, the Dancing Cow, Lilati, & a part-time forest fairy.
-I’m a collage artist & do art prints (see Etsy page).
-I’m a voiceover artist & actress (commercials).
-I sing & I play krakebs & zills, percussion instruments from North Africa, to Gnawa rhythms.
-I am a traveler, a nature lover, a birthgiver.

This is just my favorite stuff (yes, there’s more lol)

Shoshana in the Sukkah 🌺 שושנה בסוכה

This is the last of what I have left from these days long gone already — my annual sukkah photoshoot. With each passing year, I feel more and more at one with this space, my insides on display. If you were to open me up, you’d find wind chimes for a heart, sinews of wicker, colorful woven carpets on my pelvic floor, palo santo in my bloodstream.

Sukkot 2026 סוכות 🎏🎐🪅🌾🪔

A temple, a prayer, an offering, a ritual.
These walls, these walls, if they could speak, they’d tell stories of lifetimes of me, that I am a part of all whom I have met, how the sukkah is me inside out, and the temple of impermanence, that is really all of us actually: a Tower of Babel, a gateway to god, a spiritual state, a safe space, a visual meditation, an eternal-temporal dwelling, an installation of witness and presence and presents. This is my best magic. I offer it up to you as a poem, as a dance, as a song, as a ceremony.

{September 29, 2026} שושנה בסוכה/ סוכה בשושנה

I build the space and it in return builds me. “A Spiritual State” was on repeat, and as I began to put on the finishing touches, I began to dance with my sukkah.

It had been a while since I’d danced and I felt out of shape. But I decided to capture the spontaneous call to move within these walls. Something told me, “you will want to see this later.”

Indeed, even though it feels “rusty,” I love seeing the result of combining two of my favorite things— creating space and moving in space — the authentic joy on my face;

I’ve said before, my sukkah is me inside out;
I dance inside of myself.

I’ve held on to this from the first day of Sukkot hesitant to share, but something told me I should do that too. So take me: raw, rusty, joyous

The two mothers who both ask about their sons (and they both pull the same card).
The ones who ask about partnership.
The little girls who ask if they will be famous. The little boys who ask if they will be rich. The girls who want to be singers and the boys who want to make the league.
The auntie who worked in the building, whose name was also Shoshana, who kept coming back to ask about this grandson and that grandson, and the daughter who doesn’t want to get married, and the son who started studying, and her child whose marriage is doing well and the one who’s struggling. (I had to hide from her because felt I should respect her wishes, but she wouldn’t leave me alone on the break.)

The man who had no question, but got a card for vocation. I asked him if he was living in his purpose שליחות, and he said he did not know. I said then the answer is to find out.
That one little boy who asked if he would be a millionaire and got the “no answer” card and then asked again and got the closed door card. (I told him the cards don’t like being asked the same question twice. Plus, he’s not supposed to be asking that anyway.)
The children who have no question but they get answers of spiritual depth, flow, and intuition (children don’t know what intuition means and I tell them it means listening to your heart).
The woman who asks, “should I give him a chance?” but she already knows the answer.

It is the first time in my life that I am called מחזה עתידות and multiple times in a day. It takes me a while to understand that it is fortune teller which in Hebrew is “predictor of futures.” I am fascinated that “future” is plural. Tipharah says it’s because of the multiverse of futures, alternate realities existing simultaneously.
“I am not that,” I say, 🔮📿
“It is you and I am only an interpreter.”

Poets of Babel in the Sukkah

The sukkah, the temple of impermanence, that is all of us actually — “you are your own sukkah,” “letting in starlight and god;”

(What are you letting in?
“The letting in is the letting in”);

the Tower of Babel, not confusion but a gateway to god — we too are the gate, our very own Báb;

we are “embraced by infinity” and “held by velocity,” on the threshold, breathing poems
in a space where the soul can relax,
in a space that holds us all.

Immense grateful for the humans who create Poets of Babel with their presence; for the ones who return every year and the new; for the poetry and the beautiful conversations; for the inspiration, the connections, and love; for the קשר ישיר and gems dropped; for the gates and portals, the sukkah like a Tower of Babel — we are not scattered but gathered here

“A Spiritual State”

Shoshana’s Sukkah הסוכה של שושנה

Ever since I heard this song in Yukka’s story, I’ve had it on repeat. “A Spiritual State,” is the theme song for this year’s sukkah. It was part of the last moments of design, the first moments the sukkah felt complete. I danced to it in my sukkah like a dedication to the temple, a prayer, an offering, a ritual. These walls, these walls, if they could speak, they’d tell stories of lifetimes of me, that I am a part of all whom I have met, how the sukkah is me inside out, and the temple of impermanence, that really all of us actually: a Tower of Babel, a gateway to god, a spiritual state, a safe space, a visual meditation, an eternal temporal dwelling, an installation of witness and presence and presents.
Today I had the thought, if I were a witch, it would one who creates spaces. This is my best magic ✨🌀♨️
I offer it up to you as a poem, as a dance, as a song, as a ceremony
