POSTS STORIES REELS

🌖NEW EP & SINGLE: With ‘Lament’, cellist Matt Haimovitz and pianist Nadia Shpachenko explore works by Thomas de Hartmann, both deeply influenced by the German occupation of Ukraine during WWII.

His Cello and Piano Sonata (1941) and “Deux Pleureuses” (1946), both rich in melodic invention, draw on the spirit of folk creativity without directly quoting existing tunes - an approach de Hartmann described as “folklore imaginaire”.

This EP continues Haimovitz’s exploration of the composer’s music, following ‘La Kobsa’ (2025), ‘De Hartmann Cello Concerto’ (2023) and ‘Thomas de Hartmann Rediscovered’ (2024).

To be released digitally on November 27. Listen to the new single now: lnk.to/DeHartmann | #linkinbio by @shpachenkonadia

For Your GRAMMY Consideration 🏆:

“Honeyball” for Best Contemporary Classical Composition and “Keys to the Beautiful Game” for Best Classical Compendium and Best Engineered Album, Classical

“Honeyball” is my tribute to Nettie Honeyball, who founded the first known women’s soccer team in 1895 when nobody wanted her to. I had an absolute blast writing it for @nadiashpachenko and soccer cleats.

GRAMMY voting members, give it a listen! Link to “Honeyball” in bio.

I am so excited that my soccer-inspired album “Keys to the Beautiful Game” is now for consideration for Best Classical Compendium and other categories in the first round of GRAMMY® Awards. This album features very cool music I commissioned from composers Tom Flaherty, Pamela Z, Ian Dicke, David Sanford, Dana Kaufman, Harold Meltzer, Christopher Cerrone, Oliver Dubon, and Adam Schoenberg. Each composer delivered their unique take on the game of soccer and I got to not just play piano (sometimes with electronics), but also to narrate (while playing) and play on the pedals wearing cleats (in Dana’s Honeyball)! And I got to collaborate with the wonderful Pamela Z on the performance of her piece Balon! If you haven’t already heard the album, please check it out. You can watch the video trailer and listen to the whole album at the link in my bio. by @shpachenkonadia

I am so incredibly proud of Mondy for performing the Elgar Cello Concerto so beautifully in Seoul, South Korea with the Seocho Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Jong Hoon Bae, and for winning the Grand Prize in the International Association of Professional Music Teachers-IAPMT Foundation Grand Prix International Music Competition in Korea. Next Friday Mondy will be performing the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Vienna International Orchestra in Austria, conducted by Robert Lehrbaumer at the @altenburger_musik_akademie. Today Mondy performed the Brahms and Penderecki sextets at Indiana University’s @addicottfest and in August he will perform two full solo recitals at the @ihms_festival, where he will study with @amitpeledcellist and @jakob.kullberg. I am pinching myself, what an exciting summer! Thank you @uscpiano, @pianistminkwon, Robert Lehrbaumer, and @euclidquartet for organizing such incredible opportunities for young musicians! And to Mondy’s wonderful teachers @maggie.parkins and Marek Szpakiewicz, and to my beloved late teacher John Perry who brought me to the International Holland Music Sessions during many summers 25 years ago and helped me discover this gem of a music festival. by @shpachenkonadia

I have an exciting announcement! My soccer CD “Keys to the Beautiful Game,” produced by the amazing Barry Werger will be dropping on July 17 on Reference Recordings! It took 5 years to complete this very exciting project for which I commissioned 10 composers Tom Flaherty, Pamela Z, Ian Dicke, David Sanford, Dana Kaufman, Harold Meltzer, Christopher Cerrone, Oliver Dubon, Adam Schoenberg, and Evan Ware to write soccer-inspired pieces for me. Evan’s piece “Skillset” will be a music video and will come out in the fall, the other 9 pieces are coming out this month as audio, available in all the usual spaces. I miss Harold so much, he was very proud of his soccer piece “Dribble” (inspired by #leonelmessi) and this recording! Check out the trailer and dive into #TheBeautifulGame!

🎹🎶 Listen to “Tensigrty” from composer Ian Dicke's “Telstar Loops” from @shpachenkonadia's #KeysToTheBeautifulGame today on #AppleMusicClassical and more ➡️ listn.fm/keystothebeautifulgame

“The outer playful and athletic movements of Telstar Loops (Tensegrity and Buckyball) make reference to the well-known polymath inventor Buckminster Fuller, who is often misattributed as the soccer ball’s architect, since the characteristic pattern shares many similarities with his geodesic domes.” —Ian Dicke by @shpachenkonadia
