Doing things with friends is truly better. Life and business. Wouldn’t you agree?

Running a creative business on your own can be lonely. I know.

You revamp your portfolio. Or send out your newsletter sharing your latest work. No one to celebrate with you. 🎉

You send the pitch into the void. No one to high five you for hitting send. 🙌🏼

You’re having a down day and can’t shake the negative voice in your head. Who’s there to lift you up? 🚀

Friends, not just any ole friends. The ones that get the entrepreneurial grind, the highs and lows., who celebrate your wins like they are their own, because they know exactly how much slog went into it.

Every one of these photos is a moment that was better because someone was standing next to me.

Rainy festival fields, trade show floors, coffee that turned into a three hour strategy session.

So here’s the thing. Camp Momentum is built around the small group, working through the daily prompts together. But you don’t have to wait to meet your people there.

Bring a friend to Camp Momentum with you for $100 more. Just add them at checkout.

Same daily drops, same weekly feedback, same group energy, and someone you already love to keep you both accountable when the motivation dips (because it will, and that’s normal).

Cart closes October 2nd 4th.
Tag the friend who’s in your corner 👇

Head to the link in bio to grab your spot.

Positioning matters when you’re looking for the right people to find you. And it matters for when you’re not in the room so people know how to refer you.

In the new era of connection economy being able to articulate your work, values and who you want to work with matters.

It makes marketing yourself and business actually easier. If you need clarity and support to drive your marketing efforts forward join me in Camp Momentum. We kick off Oct 5th! Link in bio for the waitlist or drop Camp in the comments, and I’ll get you info.

Part two on positioning yourself and work.
Don’t bury, hide or minimize your credentials, accomplishments, interests, or hobbies.

These are the things that make you… well you. You interests help you focus on brands you’d love to work with, your past experiences help shape how you see the world, lean in!

What experience are you burying in your copy? Tell me.

Part three drops later this week. If this conversation has your mind tuning on how to better position yourself… camp momentum is halo this October. Deets in bio.

Welcome to Part one on positioning. Positioning is bigger than the category you photograph, or the industry that you’re in.

My resume goes pro sports → banking → photography. Here’s why that’s not a mess but rather it’s a through line.

Yes each of these were in a different settings with different people in different industries, but being able to read a room and have conversations no matter the level of people from interns to c suite is a learned skill that transfers.

Being able to talk numbers whether budgets or player stats then flip to marketing lingo for design ads is my sweet spot. And this is part of what makes me stand out.

Think about your through line. Where is the sweet spot for you?

Follow along for part two…

Yes I photograph people too. I actually started my photography journey in 2009! photographing kids, families, teens and lots and lots of headshots (for brands and corporations).

So humbling and exciting to get to photograph my friend and bassass woman @laurenlizphoto

It was a delight to know that my skills are still sharp for directing and capturing the true essence of the person in front of my lens.

After this past weekend’s workshop, I am feeling even more excited to keep exploring light. From seeing new ways to light a scene with mood, new modifiers, and new ways to use gels, what’s invaluable is seeing the same things people do that result in drastic improvements in images.

We had a lot of Modela left over, and @shuttershelly and I took some fun shots with this 3-light setup.

I even retouched these shots with some tips I picked up from @photography.hulswitdesigns.

No pressure, but we have food photographers flying in from 3 different continents for this... so the lighting has to be immaculate! 😅💡

We are so excited to host our Advanced Creative Lighting & Effects Workshop this weekend.

A huge thank you to @album.studios and @albumequipment for helping us pull this off with an incredible space and gear setup.

And a big thank you to @shuttershelly , @tiffanysfoodphotography and @whiskfullyso —we truly couldn’t have set everything up without your help.

@photography.hulswitdesigns let’s make magic! ✨

It’s so hot here I’m daydreaming of this strawberry spritz. Do you want one too? 🍓

I have been playing with seeing how images and text plays together. This is a muscle that been fun to work on especially showing small challenger how to utilize their images for multiple purposes.

This was created with my good friend and creative playmate @doublethesugarstudios

Within Six Degrees — My new personal project.

I’ve been wanting to work on an idea around six degrees of separation for years. I found my submission to Sony Alpha Female in 2018? was circling this topic for connectedness.

So after more thought and brainstorming the how, I put this deck together to share with those I’m photographing.

I have eight people I’m starting with. They will be my root anchors. Each person will then introduce me to the next person to photograph and so on out 6 links.

I’m excited to work on this over the next few months.
And am excited who I will meet, who will know someone else I’ve photographed and how the threads will intertwine over time.

What personal project(s) are you working on?
